Mia looked up at him from where she was sitting in a puddle of bile and sighed. "Why are you here, Mister Lucas?" She didn't even bother to ask him how he found out that she was here because she knew that the man had already investigated her deep enough to know that she worked as a volunteer in this shelter.
Mouth twitching, Lucas leaned against the pillar that was behind him. He said to her, "Well, hello to you, too, little cat. I was driving past the street and thought that I should do you a favour by gracing you with my presence."
Her eyes narrowed slightly as she questioned, "How can I help you?"
"Seriously, Mia, do you think that I will come to see you only when I want something from you?" Lucas asked with a smile on his face.
