Chapter 102: Kastro and the Toilet War God
The explosive news revealed by Yamcha even made Kairal widen his eyes in shock.
"The Ten Dons are going to die?"
Kairal couldn't help but blurt it out. The amount of information in this message overwhelmed his brain.
He had considered countless possibilities—even if Yamcha said he would replace them, he had only thought Yamcha would support him in becoming one of the Ten Dons.
But he never imagined the Ten Dons would be completely wiped out.
After all, the Ten Dons represented the pinnacle of the underground world.
Offended someone? What kind of person could kill them?
That's the limit of one's understanding.
To Yamcha, there were too many people capable of killing the Ten Dons.
Even the Dark WarGreymon standing next to him could do it.
And the Ten Dons had already attracted the attention of the Phantom Troupe, then the Zoldyck family—and eventually, even the old ancestor of the Zoldyck clan came out of hiding.
It didn't matter if you were just a mafia boss—even a ruler of a nation was destined to die under such pressure.
Of course, this was only part of the reason. More importantly, the Ten Dons had become obstacles in Yamcha's path. Even if the Zoldycks didn't kill them, Yamcha would have sent someone to do the job.
"By the way, try to establish ties with the Nosra family."
Yamcha casually added. The Nosra family was one of the few mafia groups that survived the downfall of the Ten Dons unscathed.
"You mean the Nosra family under the Ritz group? The opportunists who rose to power through their daughter?"
Light Nosra, current head of the Nosra family, had a daughter named Neon Nosra who possessed the ability to predict the future. Her predictions were so accurate that many mafia bosses relied heavily on her, which was the main reason for the Nosra family's rapid rise in status.
But this method of rising through his daughter's ability was looked down upon by martial-arts focused types like Kairal.
Incidentally, Neon Nosra had a strange hobby—human body collecting, including organs and viscera. Because of this, she became a key character in the "Hunter x Hunter" Mafia Auction arc.
"Yes. But the decision is yours—I just want results."
Yamcha only mentioned it in passing. The implementation was left to Kairal. He had no interest in divination. In his view, those who break barriers do so by breaking their own and others' fate. Not to mention, the daughter's ability had already been "stolen."
And more importantly, most of those who believed in prophecies ended up dying because of them.
"I'll be away for a while. I'll return when the auction is about to begin."
Yamcha tossed a universal capsule to Kairal as he spoke:
"Start arming your subordinates and follow the instructions I gave you earlier. You know how to use this, right?"
Weapons and equipment were exactly what Kairal needed the most at the moment.
"Y-yes, my lord!"
Kairal was ecstatic as he clutched the universal capsule, his heart burning with excitement. The fire of ambition, which had nearly gone out, burst into flame once more.
In the following days, Kairal acted according to Yamcha's plan, targeting small mafia groups. His moves were very low-key. Other mafia members either didn't notice or thought he was just venting anger. By the time they realized what was happening, Kairal had already wiped out most of the unaffiliated families and consolidated a powerful force.
By late August, Yamcha returned to Yorknew City—but this time, he brought someone with him.
A tall, silver-haired man with blue eyes, white robes, and a golden cape—carrying a warm smile.
Kastro.
—
The next day marked the start of the auction.
Leaning back in a boss chair, Yamcha opened his eyes.
"Thirteen impressive 'auras' have arrived. The show is about to begin."
"Strong?"
Dark WarGreymon immediately perked up, setting down his coffee.
Dark WarGreymon really loved anything with caffeine.
"Not your match."
"Oh."
That one sentence was enough to make Dark WarGreymon lose all interest.
"Teacher, are these thirteen people our enemies?"
Kastro asked respectfully.
"Of course not. But they're not friends either. Still, they'll help us accomplish a few things."
"Hisoka, your fellow tower master, is among them."
As for why Kastro was here—Yamcha had saved him in the Heavens Arena. After witnessing a fraction of Yamcha's power, he was deeply awed and asked to become his disciple.
Yamcha didn't take disciples—but he accepted him as a student.
A teacher is a teacher. A master is a master.
It's important to distinguish between the two.
"Hisoka, huh…"
"We last met in Heavens Arena. I wonder how he's doing now."
Kastro had fought Hisoka more than once. Both were once floor masters of the 200th floor of Heavens Arena—strong Enhancer-type Nen users. Unfortunately, due to a lack of systematic training and no proper teacher, he developed a Hatsu ("ability") misaligned with his nature—Double Body, which was more of a Conjurer/Manipulator-type, clashing with his Enhancer affinity.
He nearly died at Hisoka's hands.
Kastro touched his cheek. Unlike his graceful and refined original self, this version bore several scars. A cross-shaped one on his left cheek and a deep gash on his right eyelid.
"I'll definitely return this gift personally."
When talking about Hisoka, Kastro's murderous intent was unmasked.
Even the gentlest gentleman can't stay calm after a life-or-death experience—especially if they were disfigured.
"Now's not the time. Your aura is still far weaker than his. Train more, and then you can consider fighting him."
Although Kastro had grown stronger, he was still no match for "the toilet War God" Hisoka.
If he didn't want to become another victim in the lavatory, he'd need at least another year or two of training.
Also, his combat IQ needed serious improvement. Getting emotionally rattled mid-battle was a weakness he had to fix.
Otherwise, he'd just end up like a max-level noob getting wrecked by a high-skill player.
"By the way, how's your new ability coming along?"
Upon Yamcha's question, Kastro immediately responded with reverence. He truly admired the man who had saved him from death and taught him earnestly.
"Thanks to your guidance, I've basically mastered it."
In theory, a Nen user can only develop one special ability.
But Yamcha's ability allows him to "steal" others' Nen abilities under certain conditions.
