Chapter 103: Nen Ability — The Eighth Pawnshop
September 1st, the day the auction began.
That night, the original security staff responsible for the auction completely disappeared, replaced by a group of strangers.
With a shout of "Die, all of you!",
the members of the Phantom Troupe began their massacre.
It was a one-sided slaughter.
Every attendee was killed without exception, whether they were guests or members of the mafia.
Some of them were Nen users, but the vast gap between the two sides rendered them no different from ordinary people.
And so—
The greatest stain in mafia history was born!
The auction in Youkexin City was outright robbed! The mafia was robbed!
Such an act was equivalent to declaring war on the entire underground world. The higher-ups of the mafia were furious. The Ten Dons convened an emergency meeting that very night and issued a top-level bounty—determined to capture these criminals at all costs.
"Sir, the higher-ups have issued a bounty. If we catch the ones who stole the goods, we'll be greatly rewarded."
Even Kairara was slightly tempted by the reward offered by the Ten Dons.
So, he asked cautiously, "Do we need to participate?"
The one who answered wasn't Yamcha, but Kastro:
"If you want to die, go ahead and try."
The culprits were the Phantom Troupe, and Hisoka was just one of their members—just one was already too much for Kairara to handle. Let alone all thirteen.
Upon hearing this, the budding thought in Kairara's heart was immediately extinguished, and he respectfully stood aside.
"I understand."
"But I heard… the Ten Dons have a very special unit composed of extremely terrifying experts."
"So far, their mission success rate is 100%."
"Even they can't handle it?"
As a former high-ranking member of the mafia, Kairara knowing some insider information wasn't surprising. What would be strange is if he knew nothing at all—he'd either be a total fool or hiding something intentionally.
"You mean the Shadow Beasts? You'll probably hear about some of them later tonight."
The Shadow Beasts were a secret unit—if their names were heard,
it meant death.
Even the elite squad under the Ten Dons couldn't match them?
Kairara instantly realized how reckless he had just been.
What kind of terrifying enemies were they really dealing with?
"Want to know who you're messing with?"
"After tonight, everyone will know. Telling you now doesn't matter."
Yamcha shifted into a more comfortable position on the sofa and continued:
"Have you ever heard of the Phantom Troupe?"
"Them?! That A-rank criminal organization?!"
"Correct!"
While Yamcha and the others chatted, the mafia had already mobilized a large force and located the Troupe's traces, launching an attack.
Hundreds of mafia members gathered, bullets rained like a storm, even rocket launchers were used—but none of it had any effect.
The Troupe only sent one person.
Uvogin, an Enhancer-type Nen user, and the physically strongest member of the Phantom Troupe.
He went on a rampage like a human tank, charging through the crowd of mafia members over and over, in a scene of extreme blood and violence—limbs scattered everywhere, not a single intact body remained.
To put it simply—it was like a gorilla fighting ants.
Killing people was as effortless as tearing paper.
The two sides weren't even comparable.
Even sniper bullets hitting Uvogin in the temple only caused a faint stinging sensation.
His physical toughness was far beyond human limits.
"Not satisfying at all. Can't even count as a warm-up,"
Uvogin complained, glaring at the chunks of flesh on the ground.
"I hope the Shadow Beasts give me a little more fun."
"As you wish."
The moment he spoke, a strange, bright red figure appeared behind him and threw a punch at his face.
At the same time, more people emerged from the darkness.
These were the Shadow Beasts: Worm, Rabid Dog, Porcupine, and Leech.
Uvogin faced all four alone. The other Troupe members casually played cards, making no move to help.
This either meant they had bad relations,
or they had complete trust in their comrade's strength.
Clearly, it was the latter.
In moments:
He crushed Worm with one punch.
Bit off half of Leech's head.
Spat Leech's skull at Rabid Dog, killing him.
Roared and killed Porcupine with a shockwave.
In a matter of seconds, four of the ten Shadow Beasts were dead.
Although Uvogin was poisoned and had a leech in his body, a win was a win.
Total victory.
Realistically, if it were any other Troupe member—like Kortopi, Shizuku, or Shalnark—they couldn't have pulled off a 1v4.
But Uvogin?
He had the Troupe's strongest close-combat ability.
Just as they were about to remove the poison, a chain suddenly appeared and captured Uvogin.
To rescue their comrade, the Troupe immediately gave chase.
Then a massive bag descended from the sky and swallowed the Troupe's car, shrinking it to the size of a fingertip. Nobunaga, who didn't have time to jump out, was caught inside.
The remaining six Shadow Beasts made a dramatic entrance.
"So these are the Phantom Troupe? They don't seem that impressive…"
One of them looked down at the Troupe and said arrogantly.
Five minutes later, five corpses lay on the ground—Shadow Beasts.
Owl, who had captured Nobunaga, was easily subdued by Machi with thread. A single movement and his head would be sliced off.
"Am I going to die?"
Watching his comrades be slaughtered one by one, Owl was overwhelmed by fear.
They were too strong. The Phantom Troupe was overwhelmingly powerful.
They didn't stand a chance.
"Why did we ever provoke these monsters?!"
"We're going to die! They're going to kill me! I'm going to die!"
"But I... I don't want to—"
As the Troupe members closed in, Owl's fear reached its peak.
"You might not have to die."
A strange voice echoed in his ear.
"Who's there?!" Owl shouted.
???
The Troupe members looked at each other in confusion, not understanding why Owl was suddenly yelling.
That was because what Owl saw was completely different from them.
Before his eyes, a strange building began to materialize, with a large pawn (当) character hanging above its entrance.
The Eighth Pawnshop.
The Eighth Pawnshop's ability—was extremely important.
