Caleb's eyes widened. Shock. Bewilderment. He could only stare up at her.
Her blue irises locked onto his, mirroring the same disbelief glinting in his gaze.
She hadn't meant to pull him down against her chest.
"...I'm sorry," she said, her voice barely audible.
She wanted to bury her face into the blankets and disappear from the sheer embarrassment.
'Why do I feel this way?' she thought to herself, her heart rate increasing with every passing second.
The feeling—it was nothing like she had ever felt before.
Her heart thumped louder than a drum.
Each beat sent a warm, fluttering pulse through her limbs, like her body was waking up to something new.
