Evening the next day, Ember was fitted into the mauve silk that fit her like a glove better than it did the night before.
Her hair was slightly waved, the soft curls cascading down one side like a carefully unraveled ribbon. A few shiny pins held the strands away from her face, accentuating her heart shaped face and the cool detachment of her ash-colored eyes. She wore a silver chain with a single drop of amethyst.
The Queen walked into her dwellings moments later after she was ready, circling her like a hawk with scrutinizing eyes.
As expected, the Queen had donned a midnight black dress with a ball that easily swept the floor that she walked on. The long sleeve of her gown was slitted all the way to her shoulders, and the frills swayed gently with every step she took.
