I blinked twice snapping out of my trance and noticed the tears in her bright eyes and for some reason I felt pained,'' please don't cry— who hurt you?'' I asked.
My mum says I can't talk to strangers sorry she said sounding truly sorry.
''I'm –m not a stranger''.
''Yes you are'' she said softly, plus I don't know you.
''What shall I do—t- to—g--- gain-- your trust?'' I asked stuttering the first time ever, I was actually- nervous.
''No –no I –I trust you it's—it's just I don't know you''.
''I'll take off my cloak then you'll know who I am'' I said naively not knowing that needed a long time to happen.
''No-no—'' she tried to stop me but I took off the cloche that hid my face entirely.
Her eyes went big in surprise adding to her mesmerizing beauty, I couldn't help but say – beautiful like staring into a painting a true work of art.
The girl stared at the unbelievably handsome face in front of her; he had long shoulder length shimmering blue hair falling into his almost colorless gray and mystic eyes with a gorgeous face sculptured by God himself. By the left side of his neck a tattoo of a cross meeting of four hunter arrows and at the center a blue dragon with glowing almost realistic eyes. Two arrows shone red while two shone golden.
She was lost was this person a girl or a boy? He looked like the combination of both, to be sure she wasn't imagining things she stretched her hand to touch his face.'' Note to self cute handsome boys are by streams ''she told herself subconsciously.
''Will you tell me why you're crying now?'' I asked my gaze on her softening.
Tears unconsciously rolled down her cheeks all over again, I was unable to resist wiping the tears off her cheeks, and the next second she hugged my neck snuggling as she sobbed. I was so surprised I wanted to hug back but restricted my hands half way.
''Why did they leave me?'' She cried, they said they'd be with me forever so why did they leave me all alone?!
I nodded, even though I didn't know what she was talking about I knew she lost someone and I knew how that felt, the feeling of being abandoned and left all alone.
Something in me flared up seeing her this way, sad hurt and left all alone. ''Please don't cry'' I said stroking her soft black hair in best efforts to console her.
''Why? Why shouldn't I cry?'' She asked in-between sobs.
''Would this person love to see you cry?'' I asked, she shook her head in response, well then what would he like to see you doing?
She pulled away from me and said'' well—h-he—loves wh—when we –go—for ice cream and take a walk in the park also when--------''
As she kept talking I only focused on her, ''then why don't you do that?'' I asked once she was finished.
Staring at me she said that's a great idea! Smiling she took my hand in hers and ran her way to a small building which she called ice-cream shop.
Whatever they gave her was cold and colored, she handed one to me staring eagerly, I had no idea what this is so I taught –it looks like a frozen ball so maybe I'm supposed to protect her with it? I took it in my hands and stoned the waiter.
Her eyes went big again, ''no silly'' she said you're supposed to eat it like this she demonstrated by licking a part of it, ''see!''
On the plus side the waiter took no offence but now I didn't have whatever she called those ice ball things.
''Here –'' she said handing me hers, no one had ever sacrificed their satisfaction for mine- heck no one had ever given me anything before, I felt my broken and bruised heart was actually pounding?
''Thank you'' I said for the first time in my life but it's yours you have it.
''Ok how about we split it'' she asked dividing it equally, there you can have some and so will I smiling as she said—her radiant captivating smile almost blinding with brightness, my mind subconscious took a picture of it.
The staff members of the store were all smiling at the cute scene of the adorable children.
We strolled to what she called the park by this time she had forgotten she was sad, as we walked oblivious to the crowd who were watching us and mesmerized people staring she hummed happily.
''Hey you!!'' Someone called; we turned to see a group of boys who looked like trouble, ''it's the girl that shoved me last time guys'' the boy in the middle said to his comrades, ''yah boss I remember'' one verified-'' she has some nerve last time we let her run but this time let's teach her a lesson!''
She shrank behind me in fear and gripped my arm tightly trying her best to disappear; I turned to them with anger evident in my eyes, did they say they wanted to beat her, I dangerous smile arched at the end of his lips.
''You want to teach her a lesson but I'm in no mood for a lecture'' my dark voice stopped their laughter.
Oh yeah and who are you just some low life now beet it before I teach you a lesson as well!
''You teach me a lesson? I'd like to see you try!'' I said my voice nothing like what it was five minutes ago; you can try but don't blame me for the consequences.
They charged towards me and I sensed she got terrified; I pulled her in front of me and covered her ears and blocked her from seeing anything by resting her head on my chest. I will admit it was a bit difficult fighting like this thou.
The first two I dodged then at their state of confusion kicked them down at the same time giving three others a spinning kick to the face; it sent them flying to the other side of the park funny thing is I was being gentle, these creatures were too weak in fact I'd faced ants in the demon realm with more back bone than them.
As three more lunged at me I tackled them directly leaving only their leader. He stared helplessly at his friends who groaned in pain before noticing me approaching him. In haste he knelt down and begged, ''please don't hurt me boss-please''.
''If you ever come twenty feet close to her I won't be so generous, you'll lose a body part for sure'' I said with an ominous look in my eyes, he nodded his head vigorously before running to his severely injured comrades. I let her go and removed my hands from her ears; she stared at me with teary eyes which made my heart break.
''Please don't cry'' I told her wiping a tear that ran down her cheek, I felt pained seeing her this way and felt very protective about her as well.
''It's my entire fault I'm Sorry'' she apologized.
''It's not—nothing is ok'' I reassured her, she seemed too tired so bent down and asked her to climb on, I backed her as she wrapped her hands around my neck and rested her head on my shoulder.
The sky was getting darker minute and soon it was night time, I walked through the forest with her on me she seemed scared but didn't admit it.
''Are you afraid?'' I asked
''Yes'' she admitted.
''Not all dark things are scary you know'' I told her.
''How?'' She asked.
''Well most things in the dark are beautiful''.
''Like what?''
''Well like fireflies'' I answered shaking a leaf gently to reveal a firefly, it flew out and seconds later the whole forest was filled with them lighting it with beautiful yellow lights and creating a scene out of fairytales.
I dropped her and she ran to them twirling right in the middle, her light blue dress flowing with the wind, her jet black hair bouncing as she moved like an angel in the stars. She was happy and so was I.
We watched the stars swish by lying on the grass, I rolled to see her side view, she was much beautiful than the stars in my opinion. My mind drifted off to think how nice it would feel to be with her forever. Out of nowhere a taught came of losing her or never seeing her again, a protective instinct made me subconsciously rap my arm around her waist and draw her into my embrace.
Obviously unprepared for such she collided into my chest her body pressed tightly to mine, I was so afraid of a taught I hadn't even realized what I was doing, ''no no one can take you from me'' I said.
''Can I keep you?'' I asked whispering softly into her ear.
She stared at me dazed as if not understanding me at all. Her innocent eyes sparkled like diamonds that's when I noticed tears in them;'' don't cry'' I said trying to comfort her.
''b—but y-yu-you're –hurting me'' she said in muffled sobs, that's when I realized I was holding her so tightly it was hurting her, had I forgotten my own strength? By the way I held her I could easily inflict painful and severe bruises on her fragile body. I let go immediately and watched her regain her breath.
''I'm sorry—I didn't mean to do that'' I said feeling guilty; she smiled at me trying hard to hide the pain, ''don't be but next time if you want a hug tell me first''.
''Does it hurt?'' I asked staring down at her waist.
Understanding what I meant she replied ''no I fine''.
Then I heard a ringing in my head and the left side of my neck tingles—Lucinda was calling me back, she probably figured I'd been missing and it was no shock scenes I'd been gone the whole day.
I turned to her saying ''I need to get you home''.
''I live here'' she said pointing at a house not too far from here, that was a relief because I was already fading, ''I have to go now'' I said with a hint of sadness, she lowered her gaze indicating she was also sad.
''Hay don't be sad I'll be back, I'll be back to protect you''.
''But- but what if – what if you don't come back''.
''I'll leave something to come back for''.
''What?''
I put my hands in my pocket and brought out a bracelet made with gold that circled like a dragon roaring then slid it into her wrists. She opened her eyes and stared amazed at the beautiful bracelet, ''it's my mother's'' I explained.
''Let me give you something to remember me'' she said taking off her necklace and handing it to me, a pendant shaped diamond and inside was a picture of her with a brilliant smile on her face.
''Well put it on'' she said enthusiastically and I did, ''this is a promise you'll come back for me'' she said and I nodded.
I could feel myself fading faster and my sight blurring, how are you going? She asked, close your eyes I replied and she did just in time too cause my legs started disappearing and soon I was almost gone a tear ran down my face as I saw her for the last time before I could see nothing and disappeared.
