It was still a good sword, but it could no longer harm demons.
Ryu Takeno frowned.
He hadn't heard a contract completion prompt. Nezuko was saved, but the contract wasn't fulfilled. Did he need to return her to human form?
This frustrated him; he had no time to wait.
Should he really kill Nezuko?
After much thought, Ryu Takeno abandoned the idea. No one knew if killing Nezuko would allow him to return.
Before coming to this world, he'd flung Kumoko far away. With her escape abilities, she had a good chance of surviving the Queen Spider's pursuit.
The Queen Spider's massive size would greatly restrict her in the magma-filled middle layer.
Kumoko had only a slim chance against her mother; she could have died several times in those few seconds.
According to the original story, the Queen Spider didn't seem hostile towards slightly stronger spider monsters; she kept them as subordinates.
Only newly born Lesser Taratects were eaten.
Kumoko had a decent chance of survival.
Sigh~ She's on her own.
Ryu Takeno knew that even if he returned, he could only offer minimal protection to Kumoko. The feeling of being torn apart made him realize his weakness. To protect Kumoko, he needed greater power—stronger than the Queen Spider, stronger than the Demon King, stronger than Qitulisties.
The Nichirin sword.
He looked at the drained Nichirin sword; this power was what he needed.
But how to find the source of "Nicchirin Sand Iron"...
The Swordsmith Village was the foundation of the Demon Slayer Corps; only high-ranking members knew its location.
Ryu Takeno looked at the captured Giyu Tomioka; here was a Demon Slayer, a high-ranking one.
This man seemed tough; his broken arm didn't elicit a cry, his expression unchanged. Getting information from him would be difficult.
"Thank you for saving my sister."
Tanjiro, holding Nezuko, softly thanked Ryu Takeno.
"Thank me? You don't think a 'thank you' is sufficient payment? You seem to have forgotten something; I didn't save her for free."
"Eh?"
Ryu Takeno shook his head, seeing his bewildered expression.
This guy didn't understand the gravity of his words; another naive soul.
"Didn't you hear a transaction? And agree to it?"
"I think… so…" Prompted by Ryu Takeno, Tanjiro remembered a strange voice asking him questions.
Ryu Takeno went to where he'd knelt, brushed away the snow, picked up a black card buried in the snow, and handed it to Tanjiro.
Tanjiro took the card; the front read four large characters.
"Evil God Contract?"
The back showed the contract details.
Evil God Contract: Tanjiro Kamado offers everything as a sacrifice to save his sister.
"Eh—!!! What? What? What happened? When did I sign such a dangerous contract? What does 'everything' mean?!"
Tanjiro shouted, panicked.
He'd unknowingly sold himself to an evil god without realizing it.
Seeing his state, Ryu Takeno explained, "'Everything' includes your soul, body, future, freedom… everything belongs to the evil god after your wish is granted. If your wish isn't fulfilled, the contract is void."
"You… aren't that evil god?" Tanjiro cautiously asked.
This sudden stranger was suspicious, smelling of the giant serpent; he didn't seem trustworthy.
In Japanese mythology, snakes symbolize evil.
Yamata no Orochi, Yatagarasu—most were malicious deities.
"Unfortunately, I am the evil god in the contract." After studying the contract, Ryu Takeno finally understood how he'd been transported.
Tanjiro had essentially sold himself and thanked the buyer.
Evil God Cultivation System—his true cheat.
The black card was a system item sent to other worlds. Anyone receiving it could make a wish to the evil god—him. Of course, wishes had a price.
Like paying someone to do a job; you pay for their services.
Ahem~ That might sound cheap.
This mission is a tutorial, a mandatory task to familiarize you with the process; the difficulty won't be high.
