"Jeffrey!" she called out, this time louder, pressing her hands firmly against his face.
His eyes gradually regained some clarity, the dark pupils focusing on her face, though his gaze was incredibly complex.
"What's wrong?" she asked.
"Nothing," he exhaled a long breath.
"Good to hear," she sighed in relief. "You looked like...," she paused, searching for the right words, "like fragile glass. It scared me."
"Fragile glass?" He chuckled softly, a cold and fierce glint flashing in his eyes, but it disappeared as quickly as it came. "Sis, in this world, no one can break me."
For a moment, she felt like the person in front of her had changed completely. It must've been her imagination, Rachel thought.
"Sis, you'll never leave me, right?" he asked, staring intently at her.
She smiled. "Didn't we promise each other? You don't leave me, and I won't leave you."
