Lawson, though obedient, was not as nice to humans as his Lord was. In fact, no vampire could tolerate humans as much as Devon. They lived among humans, still dominating them as their leaders, but did not kill as they did in the old days. But that did not mean they acknowledged humans.
Humans were their servants and sources of natural food.
But Devon saw them as more than creatures that were their source of food and servants.
He, in fact, loved the interactions with these feeble creatures and that was why he, their Lord, could stoop so low to serve them.
And Lawson blamed that friendly nature as one of the side effects of his curse. He was simply thankful that it did not hinder him from carrying out his duties as their Lord and master.
He sighed and turned to the creatures who went ahead to continue their party. But there were some who could not forget the sweet scent of that human's blood that had overshadowed every other blood in the party.
