I had passed out, that's the last thing i remember, then i woke up in a hospital room, i recognized this place. i was here when rin went missing.
the door opened, Aya was here, finally i didnt have to wait. i could stand up, i just felt sore.
"Oh, Kael, your awake, and here again, heard what happened, you feeling okay?" She said, preparing an injection.
"Yeah, a little sore, what about kaito and sae? they okay?" i asked, i wasn't scared of needles.
"Sae is alright. Kaito's arm is broken, Their both resting, you were passed out for a few hours, Miss Ayame had said specifically, that you will tell her what happened. so prepare for a full on interrogation." Aya said, right. Ayame was... yeah, the leader of the ADC, not the founder. just the leader. she scared me.
"Well shit, okay. Also, Aya, how old are you? you look like.. 8-" I said, sarcastically and it was true, she looked young as hell.
"I'm thirteen excuse me" She said, I'm sorry what? a thirteen year old, is A DOCTOR?? yeah i dont feel safe anymore.
"uh. yknow maybe the injection is a bit much.. i really don't need it-" I said, trying to convince her to not inject me.
She grinned, not saying a word but approaching me with it, i tried retaliating, tried. i got injected.
Either way, half an hour passed and i was on my way to the ADC quarters for a report. i remembered something, when i was about to pass out, i saw like a white animal or something, ugh. i just had to pass out there. What even was it? I'd have to think later, i had arrived to the ADC quarters, had been here a few times before, but i was getting 'interrogated' now, instead of watching others do it. i walked in the lobby, taking a few turns and entering Ayame's office.
It was empty, no windows. just a few chairs, books, and a desk. She was sat infront of the desk. i look to my right. meika sitting down. i felt it, Ayame was strong. strong as a solstice. hm.
"Hello, Kael." She said, she was intimidating her hair was black, eyes grey.
"Sit, I'm sure you've heard of me. Ayame Kurosawa. Current Leader of the Anti Devil Corp." She said, and she was right, i had heard of her. i sit down, the desk between us. as she gestured for me to speak.
"Me, Sae and Kaito had went to the place where rin went missing, initially nothing. nothing besides a hill, we looked around, finding an entrance inside the hill. we went in, the door behind us closed. if you could call it that, a few fires here and there for light, and a demon, 8 feet tall, it could speak. Kaito told me to get away, i did, i stood on the sidelines, as they fought. the demon had caged them with shadows. they couldn't speak, the demon, it... mocked rin. i was pissed, then i just got a random boost of power, i was going toe-to-toe with the demon. and for a few minutes too, then i freed kaito and sae i was going to help them kill the demon, then the power i had just disappeared, and i was exhausted so i just fell down, i heard blood splattering, i looked, or tried to, the demon had exploded, cause well, sae and kaito had broke its core. after that, kaito picked me up, and then i passed out." I said, it was true, i just left out the fact that i saw some weird ass animal. Ayame nodded.
"How did this... power feel?" She asked.
"To be honest with you. i don't know. it felt, well. it felt good." I said, now that i thought about it. i did feel like that power wasn't mine, i felt something else, my nyth, mixed with something else. i had to investigate if i could.
"Alright. you may take your leave, i might call you later on, so be alert." She said, as i nodded. standing up and leaving, i heard Ayame saying something to meika, but i was more focused on trying to find out what that thing i saw was. i was walking through the streets of Velmaris, families eating in the open restaurants. couples on dates, it was peaceful. though i did hear a box fell, not my problem i thought, till i felt alot of nyth from that area. if it was a demon then this was bad, quickly i went into that dark, creepy alley. nothing, i looked down, and i saw it...
a small, black fox? with a few more then one tails? and orange eyes, weird, was this a random Soulbind? no, soulbinds stay near their respective binder. it approached me, rubbing itself against my legs, i bent down, petting it. i felt it, a nyth that wasn't mine, but i had felt it before, it was the same nyth i had felt when i had got a power surge in that cave.
my eyes widened, i sat down completely, as it jumped onto me, Then i felt it, it was trying to bind with me. Binding with an animal was a strange process, you just felt it if it tried bonding with you, you just had to accept with your mind. as i accepted, i felt a burst of nyth twirling around us, our nyth's were merging, so were our thoughts, it stopped.
"can you hear me?" it said, for a second i was surprised, then i thought it might be the fox.
"i... can, what's your name?" I said to it, we were talking from our minds, since we were bound together now.
"dont have one, give me one!" it said back.
"Ashka. how's that?" i said, i think ashka was pretty good.
"hmm, i like it. my names Ashka, kael right?" it said to me.
"yeah... okay, a few questions, how'd you know that? and, were you the... thing that helped me beat that wraithborne in that cave? and are you a male or female?" i asked it. holding it in my hands, despite its size it was light, i was strong though, so heavy weights were light to me.
"well, yes, i helped you in the cave, second, i know your name cause i was watching you for a bit, and third, I'm a girl" Ashka said, huh. so she was a girl. and helped me in that cave. alright then, i was surprised that i wasn't MORE surprised.
"So how strong are you exactly? you gave me enough power to defeat that wraithborne." i asked ashka, she thought about it for a moment.
"well, i gave you all my power that day, i have alot of it, i just dont know how to use it." She said, as i nodded, standing up.
"so where we going?" she asked.
"my home, also, do i have to hide you or what?" i say to her
"hmm, you could keep it a secret, say something like you found me and bound with me while on the mission" Ashka said, as it did seem logical.
"aren't you a little... too big for that though?" i say, how the hell was i going to hide a 3 feet.. fox thing with a few too many tails?
suddenly, Ashka begins.. transforming, now smaller. one feet or so.
"i can make myself slightly smaller, just wrap me in come cloth and cover me up, your a hunter, who's going to question you?" ashka said, i was surprised she could shrink, but it was good, and i was meika's little brother, who had the balls to question me. i grab a nearby cloth, dusting it then wrapping ashka in it.
i start walking to my dorm room like nothing. around 15 minutes later, i arrive in my dorm room. unwrapping ashka as she jumps on rin's bed. i smile a little.
"nice room! i assume this was your brothers bed? So what exactly happened to him, i wasnt there when he went 'missing' as you said in that cave" Ashka said, i sit down on the edge of my own bed, memories flooding back.
"We... we had went to a mission. in that same place, a year or so ago. we fought with wraithborne's or something, i ran away, he tried. i escaped, he couldn't. Everyone says he died. even I'm starting to believe it now." I said, in a slightly low tone, i had let go of rin, i still regretted it, but i couldn't do shit now.
"Oh... alright. uh, so when's your next mission?" Ashka said.
"we dont get scheduled missions, they appear randomly most of the times, sometimes i can request for a specific mission" I replied.
"you should do that! hiding me for a long time will be hard yknow, if someone notices my nyth, we'll get in a lot of questioning" Ashka said, while reverting back to her original 3 feet size.
"yeah, you are an unregistered soulbind, alright, get under the bed, ill be back." i said, standing up and stretching a little, as ashka went under the bed.
i leave and go to the Mission Approval Office, i cant just go to meika for every mission, as i enter, its an old lady... Naia Kenshi... the grumpy old lady that handed out mission, amazed me how she still had her job..
"hey miss Naia-"
"its you, what the hell do you want?"
"i want... a mission." i say, acting all 'kind'.
"take this, and get out of my office" She said, her attitude seriously pissed me off, but ofcourse i had no right to attack her, wish i did though.
i took the mission document, it was a old ruin, it was advised for ashborne class hunters since this was unknown, signs of smoke and fire were there.
an hour or so later, i got ready, took Ashka with me, secretly ofcourse, and left. after getting a decent distance away from Velmaris, i unwrap ashka, letting her walk with me. as we arrive in the ruins, it seemed like a small village that was abandoned, well it was a ruin.. i could sense a few nyth signatures behind an old house, it was strong, Firecrest level, i could kill it though.
"Sense that?" i said to ashka.
"mhm..." She said, as i quietly walked towards it, unsheathing my helliron sword. the nyth moved, the demon had heard me, it was a weaver class, fast. behind me, i reacted before ashka as i blocked its initial attack, i had to be on guard, i knew there was more then one.
My suspicion confirmed, one more on my back, another weaver. i quickly dash to the side, as one of them aims for ashka, i charge at it, the other demon getting infront of me, i aim for its neck, it blocks, i feint, kicking it in its torso, ripping it in half, it exploded, Hah! i got its core, i threw my sword at the other demons head, as it gets stuck in a wall of a ruined house,
"you good?" i ask ashka, walking towards the demon, taking the sword and using my fire to burn it to ashes.
"yeah... I'm okay" Ashka said, there was still one more demon, i could sense it.
"Be on guard, there's still something here." I said, i felt it. a presence unmistakable from a demon.
suddenly, i felt a menacing presence behind me, it was strong. i felt fear, i wanted to run, quickly, i turn around, using fire to blast myself back and the demon in the face. but before i could run, the demon stepped out of the smoke like it didn't feel a damn thing. My flames were flickering off its skin like sparks off stone.
It was tall, Its presence felt heavy. I couldn't breathe right, and my legs wouldn't move.
Then suddenly, i felt it, the same power in that cave. it was ashka, she was giving me that power. just like that time.
My legs moved, my lungs breathed. i looked up. it was tall, but humanoid, its limbs were long, but proportions eerily accurate to its size, it had long white hair, vampire like canines. a human face, but a demonic presence.
I met its gaze.
Its head tilted slightly, not like an animal—but like someone trying to remember a name from long ago.
Then, it spoke.
"What's your name, child?" the demon said, calm. and not feral looking, like it should.
"Kael Sorin." i said, i knew i could fight it, but i knew i wouldn't win. my best chance to live was to play along with it.
The demon smirked slightly.
"Sorin. did you perhaps know a Rin Sorin?" it said, with a smirk.
my heart beated harder then before. Eyes slightly widened. i stayed silent, nodding, slowly. How the hell did this thing know about rin?
"mm. he does his job nicely. Not to mention its quite fun to see him yelling. Either way, he's alive, ill leave you alive. Id like to see what you'd do." it said, vanishing with a gust of wind, i stood there.
Rin, he was alive. and what the hell did this demon mean by 'fun to see him yell'... what they hell were they doing to him.
