Chapter 24 - Heart to Heart

The profits of the journal continued to soar, jobs poured in, and the company's fame grew beyond Mirabel's wildest dreams. Her dream of a new beginning had finally come to fruition. However, her company's success wasn't the only reason for her boundless happiness; she had fallen in love again and had decided to take another shot at love. Vicky, the man of her dreams, was the object of her affection. She just needed to muster the courage to approach him and confess her love.

"How on earth do I say it... I love you, Vicky... or Vicky, I love you... That's not right. How will he react?" Mirabel wondered, pacing around her office. She stopped in front of her desk, picked up her phone, and dialed Annabelle's number.

Annabelle answered, and Mirabel blurted out, "Belle, I'm freaking out!"

"Girl, calm down. What's up?" Annabelle replied, trying to calm Mirabel down.

"Sorry, I'm just really stressed and confused," Mirabel explained.

"Let me guess... Vicky again?" Annabelle asked.

"Yes, Belle, Vicky," Mirabel confirmed. "What's the problem this time?"

"I love him," Mirabel said.

"Tell me something I don't know," Annabelle teased.

"I don't know how to express myself, Belle. How do I say it?" Mirabel asked.

"Are you serious? What's so difficult?" Annabelle replied. "It's simple: 'I love you, Vicky.' That's it."

"It seems weird," Mirabel said.

"What's weird? Is it the words or...?" Annabelle probed.

"Come on, Belle, be serious," Mirabel pleaded.

"I'm serious. Just say it. Call him over to your office, and trust me, your anxiety will vanish," Annabelle advised.

"Okay, Belle," Mirabel agreed.

"Alright, good luck," Annabelle said.

Mirabel ended the call and composed herself. She instructed Dianne to inform Vicky to report to her office. A few minutes later, Vicky entered her office and took a seat opposite her.

Mirabel cleared her throat and met Vicky's gaze. They stared at each other for a moment before Mirabel broke the silence.

"Hey, Vicky... I mean, hi... no, I mean hello," Mirabel stuttered, struggling to find the right words.

"Hello too," Vicky replied with a smile.

"So, I wanted to... have a discussion with you. It's very important, and I wanted to talk to you about it," Mirabel explained.

"Okay, I'm all ears," Vicky said.

"So, there's this guy that I really like. He's perfect, and I really, really love him. But I don't know how to express it. I'm a bit confused. What do you think I should do?" Mirabel asked.

Vicky smiled. "So, this guy that you really like... what's he like? Tell me more about him."

Mirabel returned the smile, feeling more at ease. "Well, what can I say? He's handsome, brave, funny, and sometimes he acts weird. He has the prettiest eyes. Anytime I look into his eyes, it feels like I'm in another world. In fact, anytime I'm with him, I feel peace. He's everything I've ever asked for."

"I think I know what you mean," Vicky said. "You're also in love, right?"

"Yes," Mirabel replied.

"The one I love is amazing. She's elegant, beautiful, and quite intimidating," Vicky described.

"Oh, really?" Mirabel asked.

"Yes. In fact, my words can't describe her personality. She's everything. I love you, Mirabel, and I'll keep loving you till I take my last breath," Vicky confessed.

Mirabel's face lit up with a smile. "I... love you too, Vicky. And I'll always love you."

Vicky jumped up from his seat, exclaiming, "She said she loves me! Yes!"

Mirabel laughed and cautioned, "Vicky, come on. Don't shout."

Vicky composed himself and retook his seat. "You don't know what these words mean to me... thank you," he said.

"No, Vicky, thank you for filling my heart with love again," Mirabel replied.

The two gazed at each other for a moment before Vicky spoke up. "So, my love... let's go out on another date, just the two of us... Friday night?"

"Sure, my love... it's a date. I can't wait," Mirabel agreed.

"Just one more thing," Vicky said.

"What's that?" Mirabel asked.

"Say 'I love you' again," Vicky requested,

Mirabel's face turned red as she blushed. "Vicky, I love you," she said.

Vicky's eyes widened, and he placed his hand on his chest. "Oh my..." he exclaimed.

"I'll get back to work," Vicky said, standing up, his eyes still fixed on Mirabel's.

Mirabel urged him to leave, and he did. She smiled to herself, feeling happy. "I'm so happy," she said.

Meanwhile, Rose left her home with her luggage and headed to the airport. She had booked a flight ticket and was ready to leave Dillsville. As she waited in the departures lounge, she sighed and thought to herself, "Vicky, I'm coming. It's high time we rekindle our love and fix all the broken things in our relationship."
