KODA'S POV
She shook her head frantically, tears streaming down her cheeks. She was terrified, and she should be. I was barely holding myself back from ending her life right there.
"If she is not alive," I continued, "if she is hurt in any way, you will not live to see sunset or another game. I do not care what law I break. I will kill you myself."
I turned to the guards who had appeared at the doorway. "Hold her in this room. She doesn't leave."
"You have no grounds for this," Liana gasped, her voice hoarse from my grip on her throat. "I haven't been convicted of anything."
"I am Prince of this land," I said, my voice cold as winter stone.
"So?" she shot back, some of her defiance returning.
One of the guards stepped forward and pressed the tip of his spear against her throat. "Watch yourself, girl."
I looked down at her crumpled form on the floor. "You should pray to Hecate that my mate survives. That is all that should be on your lips right now."
