Chapter 16 - There you are, you lying witch

Lilah was grateful to her brothers, for giving her hope and encouraging her to keep living. But she knew they wouldn't be able to win against the vampires no matter what they tried unless they had connections with the werewolves.

'No, this won't do.' Lilah thought, brushing her cheek with her bandaged palm and then squinted her eyes as it stung a bit. 'I have to find a way to contact the Lycan King and get him to help me. But... How would he react if I, a blind and useless girl, suddenly told him to make a deal with me?'

It was unthinkable, how he would react. She was a stranger and someone who had no benefits so why would he bother helping her?

This made her even more anxious and she began to sweat.

If she was the female lead, she would've had a little more confidence but she wasn't. She was just a blind nobody.

'How so I convince him?' She thought. 'Is there anything I can use to win him over?'

Aside from her knowledge of the plot, which was very essential, she knew nothing.

But she couldn't just reveal that she knew the future because he would see her as a witch and werewolves hated witches.

How could she be of use and not get framed for being a witch?

'Will it be alright if I said I was a prophet instead?' She wondered and then got up, her legs taking her towards the window. 'It'll actually be believable if I, who is blind, claim to have been blessed with the ability to see the future.'

It was worth the shot, but there were just too many loopholes in her words.

If he asked her what he was going to do in the next five hours, how would she respond?

Sure, she could lie that her visions appeared randomly and only when needed, not just when she wanted to see a few hours ahead.

That would make him even more skeptical about her abilities but...

'If I tell him about the spy working with him, I'm sure he'll believe me after finding out that what I said was true but how long will that take?'

She sold next to her window, her hand on the window panel. A soft wind blew calmly over her and caused her hair to dance lightly and she gently pushed her hair behind her ear.

It was a bit chilly.

'Will I be able to convince him to lie about being my betrothed just for today before he starts digging into the information I'll provide him?'

Everything was a mess.

And just when Lilah thought she had had her worse for the moment, Dawn roared behind her.

"There you are, you lying witch." She quickly turned around instinctively.

She was next to the window and against a raging Dawn; that was such a dangerous spot to be in.

"Dawn, what are you...?"

"Oh, don't give me that." Dawn cut her words short, storming towards her. "I know what you're planning."

Lilah tried to get away from the window, but without her cane in her hand and no idea what she might bump into, she was also, and Dawn caught her by the hair.

"You're planning to steal my family from me. You're planning to make me the bad child but guess what? Your days are numbered, haha." She was hysterical; her eyes widened in madness as she looked into Lilah's helpless face.

"I never tried to do such a thing, Dawn." Lilah said. Of course, words wouldn't work on a girl like Dawn.

She only believed whatever she wanted to believe and threw the rest in the gutter.

It was as if she had traded her common sense for an even blacker heart.

Lilah could see her heart raging. She would do anything in that state she was in. First, she needed to calm her down.

"Dawn, please listen. I never intended to do such a thing. You're my sister and you're my family. We're family."

"Who's your family?" Dawn gripped harder on Lilah's hair, causing Lilah to wince in pain. "I'd rather be a family with a dog than you, you pretentious witch. I don't know how you were able to bewitch my father and brothers into hating me but it's already over, kehekehe." She cackled.

'What does she mean?' Lilah wondered while trying to lighten Dawn's grip on her hair. 'It hurts.'

"It seems whatever witchcraft you did wasn't strong enough because Father's eyes have finally been opened." Dawn said and laughed. "Did you think he would rather push the family to ruins than seel a worthless thing like you off? Hahaha, you're going to be a vampire's wife so you better start packing your bags."

Lilah froze.

Was this true? So, her expectations ended up failing in the end. Her father... Would certainly rather sell her away than let his family fall into ruins.

Then, what about her brothers? Weren't they going to do anything about it?

She pathetically dropped to the floor like a damsel in distress while Dawn laughed.

Did she... Hope for nothing again?

"Sucks to be taken by the vampires, right?" Dawn asked as she circled around her. "I heard that the vampires choose pretty girls because they feel their blood tastes good. So, you're probably going to be vampire food once you leave." She added and laughed.

Lilah trembled.

How was this always her end? She was tired.

"But I'll give you a piece of advice. Instead of going through that fate, why don't you take your life instead?" Dawn suggested. "I toilet br better than having your entire blood drained out, right? At least, they could carry your dead body and feast on it instead. You'll feel no pain then since you'll be dead." She laughed. "Just jump out the window now while you still can."

Her words were true and Lilah found herself contemplating. If she had to die anyway, then why couldn't she just end it herself?

She didn't want to suffer. She didn't want to have to be ripped to shreds before closing her eyes.

In the novel, Lilah dies in the most gruesome way.

After the vampire prince fed his fill, he threw her over to his subordinates to finish the rest.

They ripped her apart to suck out every drop of blood in her veins. They did this while she was still alive.

Lilah screamed in pain so much that she lost her voice and could only watch as they ripped her to pieces until one of them ripped out her heart to offer along with the prince's meal.

It was the most juicy part of her, after all.

What was even more cruel was the fact that, at that moment, Lilah's sight was restored.

How it happened, she had no idea. And the novel never said anything about it either. But it was at the point of her death, in the middle of vampires who were feasting on her, that she got to see the colors of the world.

It was dark. It was red, bloody red. It was frightening.

Her blood was spilled everywhere and dripping on the bodies of these blood-sucking creatures.

Their face, lips, and hands were all stained with blood. Her blood.

Her eyes were opened to a world like that.
