Chapter 30 - At this, Nick seamlessly switched the virtual image.

Now, the image showed a dashing but not particularly attractive American woman.

She was wearing a stunning uniform, attacking countless spaceships in the cosmos!

In that brief moment, the Avengers jumped up from their seats.

"What the hell is this?"

"Nick, are you sure you're not joking?"

"Who is this? I feel like she's the real Superman!"

"She is…?"

"She's a former operative of the U.S. Air Force's Pegasus Program. You can call her Major Carol, but her current codename is Captain Marvel.

She possesses faster-than-light travel, unstoppable strength, and an indestructible physique. The only issue is…"

"What's the issue?" Natasha asked.

"She primarily operates in space, possibly hundreds of thousands of light-years away from us…"

"Well, okay then!"

Iron Man's eyes lit up.

"So the cosmos really is that dazzling? Does that mean the silence we perceive is just Earth lacking a ticket to the universe?"

"Exactly!" Nick nodded. "This information will never reach the public. Not everyone can accept that Earth is akin to a primitive tribe. But fortunately, we have powerhouses like Captain Marvel who can deter cosmic races!"

"But the problem is… are you sure Captain Marvel is stronger than me, or him, and that she'll listen to you?"

Banner asked, frowning, prompting Nick to shrug helplessly.

"I'm not sure. If I were, he'd already be our prisoner."

"So your so-called intelligence exchange is just using two people who might cause him trouble, and a dazzling cosmos, to give us a visible but untouchable target?"

Tony asked, annoyed.

Seeing this, Nick helplessly slapped the table.

"True, I admit what I've said isn't very useful, at least not yet. But like in war, no one knows who'll win until the end. What we're doing is increasing our odds!"

"Then…" Banner paused, suggesting, "Maybe we should consider more ways to build a friendly relationship with him. After all, our original plan was to recruit him as an Avenger."

"A friendly relationship? Do you think we'd take a friendly relationship with North Korea seriously? Do you think North Korea could gain anything from a friendly relationship with us?

When the power gap is too vast, friendly relationships don't exist, Banner."

"Then maybe we could find a chance to let the guy inside me make an appearance. It's risky, but… it might increase our leverage!"

"That's a decent idea, but I just thought of something!"

Tony took over Banner's words, addressing everyone.

"I'm suddenly curious—why did he ask us to find this so-called Purple Man for him? And why does he want to take him out?"

"Hmph…"

As soon as Tony finished, Natasha laughed rudely.

"Ask? Your wording is too generous. He was simply giving orders. I didn't hear any pleading in his tone!"

"Okay, so it was an order. But why does he want to take out the Purple Man? Could it be related to the Purple Man's abilities? Or did he even suffer a loss at his hands?"

Hearing this, Nick Fury's eyes widened in surprise.

"You mean…"

"Exactly. My take is we should first find this Purple Man and figure out his abilities.

Heisenberg said the Purple Man can control others. Could this control be a weapon we can use against him?" Tony concluded.

After hearing Tony's idea, everyone exchanged glances and thought for a moment…

Shortly after, Captain America stood up.

"Let's implement several plans at once. I'll lead the team to find and attempt to contact the Purple Man. Natasha will communicate with Jane Foster. Barton will join me. Tony, as Iron Man, will stand by to support our respective teams."

With that, Captain America turned and walked away without hesitation.

Until Dr. Banner stopped him.

"Wait, Captain!"

Banner looked particularly awkward, his voice tinged with anger as he asked,

"What about me? What's my mission?"

"You… I must admit, your anger is our strongest ace, so you'll only appear on the most critical battlefield!"

"So unless you mess up, I'm just a lab rat here?"

For a moment, Banner turned a shade of green.

Everyone's hearts skipped a beat.

As for Captain America…

Before he could respond, Nick Fury stepped in to explain to Banner.

"Banner!"

Nick said,

"That's not what I meant. It's to prevent you from ending up like this. No matter what, you need to stay calmer!"

"Wait!"

Hawkeye unexpectedly interrupted, raising his hand.

"I think we've overlooked something. Shouldn't our first priority be verifying the existence of Kryptonite, or searching for it on Earth?"
