Chapter 34 - True Scum

Hearing Heisenberg's words, the Purple Man in the car was utterly shocked.

Was he going to let Jessica kill him?!

Falling from the sky, into Jessica's hands…

Hmm, dying by her hands doesn't sound so bad…

In an instant, the Purple Man felt another split in his psyche.

"Heisenberg, I've done nothing to you. Why…?"

Boom!

Rip!!!

Heisenberg reached out, tore off the car door on the Purple Man's side, and flung it away.

Watching the Purple Man cling desperately to the steering wheel, Heisenberg smirked.

"No seatbelt while driving. Now you're panicking, huh?"

"Whether I wear a seatbelt or not, I'm dead either way! I just want to know why! Why kill me on our first meeting? I can do so much for you—believe me!!!"

The Purple Man's words were frantic, fueled by the fear of death.

But Heisenberg merely laughed coldly.

The Purple Man watched his smile, only to see Heisenberg lift the car with his left hand and grab his neck with his right.

"What can you do? Hah, you've already done it all!"

As the words fell, the Purple Man tried to explain, but Heisenberg's eyes flashed red.

In Heisenberg's vision, the Purple Man's brain was crystal clear. With a micro heat vision, he vaporized the prefrontal cortex—the seat of thought.

By the time Heisenberg's eyes returned to normal, the Purple Man was a true vegetable.

And this vegetable would never wake again.

With the Purple Man dealt with, Heisenberg intended to carry the car back to his rooftop.

But before he could fly, he noticed the shield strapped to the Purple Man's arm.

"Tsk tsk, Captain America, didn't expect you'd lose even your wife!"

He casually unstrapped the shield and hurled it back toward the Purple Man's building.

Then, holding the car, he flew back to his rooftop. Moving too fast, Jessica hadn't yet appeared.

After a minute, Heisenberg finally saw Jessica, her face anxious.

He dropped the car toward her.

Jessica was still confused. Why was Heisenberg throwing a car at her?

Was he planning a drive tonight?

Or was he so angry he threw a car at her?

Before her doubts faded, she saw the car falling from the sky.

"Damn, it's so high!!!"

Jessica was terrified. She'd never caught a car from such a height.

Not for lack of strength, but because no car had ever flown that high!

Summoning all her power, she leaped over twenty meters high, palms outstretched, and slammed into the car.

Boom!!!

The car's undercarriage ripped apart, shattering into pieces that rained down on Heisenberg's rooftop.

The Purple Man's motionless body was flung out with the debris.

"There's someone in the car!"

Landing, Jessica was horrified by the figure streaking across the sky.

She'd killed again!

Who was it? Who had she killed?

Splash!

The Purple Man crashed into Heisenberg's pool, his blood instantly staining the water red.

Jessica rushed to the pool, dove in, and dragged his body out.

She tossed him onto the poolside, then climbed out herself.

Approaching the Purple Man, she muttered,

"I'm sorry, I thought it was just a car. Are you Heisenberg's enemy?"

She flipped the Purple Man over and froze.

Even if she didn't remember everyone, she'd never forget this demonic bastard!

Smash!

Instinctively, she punched, creating a gaping hole in the Purple Man's chest.

Simultaneously, a crater formed on Heisenberg's rooftop.

"It's you, it's you!!!!"

Jessica roared, unleashing punch after punch, her screams ear-piercing.

"Aaaaaaaaah!!!"

In her screams, the Purple Man was utterly destroyed.

Above, Heisenberg watched the Purple Man's demise, curling his lips.

Crush a potato, get mashed potatoes.

Crush garlic, get minced garlic.

Crush a tomato, get tomato sauce.

Crush scum, strangely, you still get scum.

Watching Jessica relentlessly process the scum, Heisenberg sighed.

Let her have her time.

Heisenberg vanished into the distance.

Below the Purple Man's apartment, Coulson led fewer than ten SHIELD agents in a desperate counterattack.

Outnumbered, SHIELD was no match for HYDRA.

Even with elite agents like Melinda May, HYDRA had Grant Ward.

If not for Erica's Nuke Gang suppressing John Garrett, Coulson would've been dead!

Crouching behind a car wheel, Coulson peeked at the gangsters surrounding Crossbones, attacking Garrett.

"Thank goodness for Crossbones!"

He couldn't help but sigh.

But Crossbones was still bewildered.

Holding his rifle, he fired two shots at Garrett, then turned to Erica, questioning her.

"You were flirting with me this morning because of Heisenberg's orders?"

"Did you think I liked you? I have a boyfriend!"

Bang bang!

"Damn, I thought you were a spy. So, you're just gangsters?"

"Of course, but we're better than your agents. We fire over 30,000 rounds a year!"

Erica fired two shots, then reloaded her empty magazines.

As she loaded, she told Crossbones enviously,

"Your name's really Crossbones? Any other names?"

"Uh, Brock Rumlow!"

"Ha, nice to meet you, Rumlow. I'm Erica Natchios, codename Phantom Killer. Welcome aboard!"

Erica extended her hand in friendship.

Rumlow's eyes widened. Was she serious?

Just like that?

I haven't agreed, and we're colleagues?

Are you that sure I'll join?

Boom!!!

Amid the gunfire, Heisenberg plummeted from the sky, landing near Erica and Rumlow.

His impact cracked the ground, even jolting Erica's Range Rover.

In an instant, Rumlow grabbed Erica's hand.

"Honored to join you!"

He smiled.

Whoosh!!!

But Erica suddenly drew her short spear, aiming its tip at Rumlow's neck.

Rumlow stiffened, reacting instantly. He pressed down on Erica's hand and elbowed her chest.

Erica stumbled back, her spear arm seized by Rumlow's free hand.

"You…!!"

"Haha, nice skills. I'll vouch for you. Go meet the boss!"

Rumlow's question was cut off by Erica's laughter.

Turning to the approaching Heisenberg, Rumlow reluctantly bit his lip.

Heisenberg recognized the movie-accurate Crossbones. When Rumlow stopped before him, he nodded approvingly.

"You look good, better than my assassins. But your talents aren't just in action. Can you handle departmental coordination?"

Without waiting for Rumlow's reply, Heisenberg slung an arm around his shoulders.

"Don't think about spying for HYDRA. Your leader isn't worth betraying me for."

"You…!"

Rumlow was stunned. Though Garrett was exposed, his direct superior wasn't.

Did Heisenberg know everything?

"What's the matter? Don't you think joining me is the best outcome? HYDRA's already exposed to SHIELD. Almost every SHIELD department is in chaos!

Your boss, Alexander Pierce, though not yet exposed, will be within half an hour. He won't let Garrett's faction be wiped out.

Do you think your rushed rebellion will succeed?"

Heisenberg patted his back.

"If you're smart, go to my nightclub. Head upstairs to meet your future colleagues and me. We'll have a little meeting."

With that, Heisenberg released Rumlow and approached Erica.

Erica immediately bowed respectfully.

"Retreat. This is SHIELD's war. Afterward, take Crossbones to my place. We've got a meeting!"

"Yes, sir!"

Erica nodded, and she and the Nuke Gang vanished.

The conflicted Rumlow, after much hesitation, followed Erica.

Heisenberg tried to leave, but Coulson, sharp-eyed, spotted him.

Seeing him attempt to depart, Coulson charged through the gunfire.

"Heisenberg, our organization's in trouble! Help us—you have the power!"

"Hmm?"

Heisenberg turned, intrigued.

He raised his right hand.

As he did, Garrett, also watching, ordered swiftly,

"Cease fire!!!"

HYDRA agents dared not shoot, fearing a stray bullet might hit the powerful figure.

Garrett knew if Heisenberg aided SHIELD, he'd be doomed.

But he couldn't risk firing, gambling on Heisenberg's choice.

In the eerie silence…

"Coulson!"

Heisenberg spoke.

"I could help you destroy your enemies, and you could eliminate most terrorist organizations. Why haven't you?"

"I…"

Coulson was speechless.

Heisenberg continued,

"Because it's not your job. Tonight's the same.

This is SHIELD's fight, America's fight, humanity's fight—not mine. So, carry on!"

With that, Heisenberg soared into the sky, vanishing.
