Chapter 31 - Her Dark Past

It's already been a day since Ma Feng entered the island, roaming around while looking for information that would boost his knowledge. Ma Feng encountered a series of monsters.

There was a time when he was attacked by hundreds of monkeys for plucking a fruit from a sacred tree. The scratches inflicted on his chin disappeared after Ma Feng let out a calm sigh.

He turned to rest his back on a shoulder while standing in an unknown direction on the island.

He could ask Violet to direct him to whatever he needed, but this was an adventure to him. If he couldn't find what he needed now, on the last day Violet would do the job for him, so it was better he explored.

Ma Feng had already eaten his fill after eating that magical monster he killed. He hadn't crossed another monster in a while. Magical monsters were quite nutritious and healthy for the body of a magic user.

Ma Feng sensed movement on the ground as he climbed the tree. A two-horned rhino dashed out of the woods—a magical monster with a magical level of six. It was quite powerful for its size.

Ma Feng watched the monster from the treetop and sighed. He sat down on the tree branch while watching the monster from above when he was attacked from behind. Ma Feng's reflexes were fast.

He ducked an eagle's claws from above as he fell to the ground. The eagle was also a magical monster, one of the guardians of this island, and they were all furious after losing one of their kind.

"What's up with these magical monsters?" Ma Feng asked.

VIOLET: ALERT, ALL THE MAGICAL MONSTERS ARE CONNECTED TO A SINGLE BEING INHABITING THIS ISLAND. THEY ARE BEING COMMANDED TO ATTACK YOU AFTER YOU KILL ONE OF THEM. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT THIS?

"What am I going to do? I guess I will pummel them down until they are nothing, and besides, there isn't a single being here to stop me," Ma Feng said as his green eyes slightly glowed and he smiled.

The two-horned rhino charged at Ma Feng without hesitation. Ma Feng ducked the attack and moved back as he evaded the rhino's first strike. The rhino launched another attack immediately.

The ground began to shake as the rhino attacked. Its horns glowed brightly as it released a plasma blast from the two horns. Ma Feng widened his eyes in shock as he blocked the attacks.

With a self-defense barrier personally created and designed by Violet, the rhino charged at the barrier but was sent crashing to the ground. Ma Feng laughed out loud as the eagle launched its own attack.

"An aerial attack?" Ma Feng asked himself.

The eagle's screams caused the ground to break down with force while Ma Feng stood firmly, unfazed. He continued gazing at the monster coming down from the sky before frowning.

"I have no intentions of using my dragon magics against it, since there isn't a single soul related to the Scarlet Academy here. I will test out my brute strength," Ma Feng said as he watched the eagle transform.

The eagle transformed into a giant eagle. Its three eyes glowed firmly, and the eyes shot down lasers without hesitation. Ma Feng ducked the three-laser attack without even breaking a sweat.

The ground beneath Ma Feng was already shaking when he vanished from the sky.

The eagle looked up to see Ma Feng coming down from the sky. A disastrous kick sent the monster crashing hard into the ground. Ma Feng grabbed the eagle's talons and tossed it into the sky.

"I guess I don't need to use much of the dragon magics while I possess this kind of super strength and speed. It will be useful to me," Ma Feng said as he dashed into the sky from the ground.

The impact caused the ground to crack heavily as Ma Feng grabbed the eagle and slammed it hard on the ground. Dashing out of the clouds of dust, Ma Feng charged at the rhino without holding back.

He grabbed the horns of the monster and threw it into the trees without stopping. Ma Feng appeared before the flying monster and stopped it with his hand. The rhino fell dead on the ground.

"Phew... This was fun," Ma Feng said to himself with a smile.

He stared at the great deal of damage he had done to the forest on the island and smiled. He placed his leg on the rhino monster with pride when his expression immediately changed as he turned.

He turned toward the right as he broke right through the transparent illusions. He detected that he had been watched the entire time when he tracked the location of the one observing him.

"I've got you now, bitch... Did you really think your magics couldn't be detected?" Ma Feng asked with a smile as he started unleashing his soul magical essences from his body, forming terrifying auras that covered him.

The sorcerer watching him the entire time gasped as he sensed the destructive auras flowing out of Ma Feng. Ma Feng turned toward his direction, and the sorcerer staggered back in shock.

"What the hell is that student?" the sorcerer asked.

"You know, if you were really a high-profile magic user, then it would have been easier to get away from here via teleportation. Why are you trailing me?" Ma Feng's voice was heard from behind.

The sorcerer turned to see Ma Feng as he began sweating profusely. The auras flowing through Ma Feng were quite intimidating—and even Ma Feng didn't fully know it. But he couldn't afford to let this sorcerer escape.

"I... I... I am the guardian of this island. You are trespassing, and my magical monsters were sent to intimidate you, but you instead turned them into food. What exactly are you?" the sorcerer asked, still fearful.

"It's a simple question, but I can't afford to answer. Well, I am only a student on trial from the Scarlet Academy, and I am here to investigate a few things. I wonder what you are hiding on this island," Ma Feng said.

"What? I don't understand what you are talking about," the sorcerer asked. Ma Feng smiled and turned off his auras. He knew how intimidating he had been all this while, and he was excited.

"This island is more like a wasteland... Why would it need a guardian? What truth do you hide on this island that makes you act as a guardian?" Ma Feng asked as an apple fell from a tree into his hand.

"I... I... I... That's a secret. I can't afford to tell you—a student!" the sorcerer said while regaining his voice. Ma Feng smiled. He then understood how intimidating his auras really were—and he wasn't even showing their full force.

"Hmph, very well then, I will come for those informations soon, but firstly, let me enjoy myself on this island. By the time the fun is over... I am certain you will be prepared with your true magical forces," Ma Feng said.

"Well, bye for now then," Ma Feng said with a smile on his face as he waved his hand at the sorcerer. The sorcerer wiped the sweat from his face and sighed. He knew this student was no joke.

He has to be prepared for the visitation of this student when the time comes. What is hiding mustn't come out into the light. Not yet... not in a thousand years to come. He will protect it with his life.

"I will crush that kid when he comes back looking for me. I will make sure he begs for mercy!"

Meanwhile,

Crystal Rendevor and Ashley Edan seemed to be working silently as they passed through cornered parts of this mysterious island. Crystal frowned when a bear magical monster dashed against her without hesitation.

Before Crystal could launch an attack, the bear fell down dead with blood oozing from its neck as Ashley licked the blood off her dagger. It was kinda creepy to Crystal, but she didn't say a word.

"You were about to cast a magical attack, weren't you? These magic casters are always dependent on their magics... What if magics never existed?" Ashley asked as they continued their work.

"I don't depend on my magics too much... I was once an assassin specialist before becoming a magic caster," Crystal said, and Ashley giggled. She halted as she turned to stare at Crystal, who remained emotionless.

"You, an assassin specialist? Why then did you quit?" Ashley asked.

"That's not something I would like to say out loud. There are some dark pasts that I mustn't reveal to the world," Crystal Rendevor said as she continued walking, while Ashley laughed out loud.

"Dark pasts, eh? Crystal Rendevor... I already know about the past you refuse to say. You were once a noble assassin specialist who served under the direct command of your father until he used you."

"Three years ago, you brutally murdered a town filled with six thousand people, children and women included—all in cold blood. Your father really is a messed-up man. I don't even know who's worse between our fathers," Ashley said with a smile on her face.

"And you speak those words so casually. I really don't want to soak my hands in blood again, although I don't feel any guilt. I have no regrets for murdering such a prosperous town."

"The next time you remind me of such a dire past, I will kill you, Ashley," Crystal warned as she walked out of the scene, and Ashley smiled. She enjoyed watching the angry look on Crystal's face.

It was exciting, wasn't it? They were all murderers!!!
