Whisper – Episode 20
The storm raged outside, thunder shaking the walls as Rabaab sat alone in her dimly lit room. The pendant glowed faintly against her chest—a fragile beacon in the darkness.
Her mind raced with questions and fears. How far was she willing to go? What price would she pay to free Zal'Kor from his eternal torment?
The mirror stood silently before her, its surface cold and still, but Rabaab knew better. It was a gateway — a prison — a living echo of a past long buried.
Suddenly, a faint knock at the door startled her. It creaked open slowly, revealing Jawad, his face etched with concern.
"I've been trying to reach you all day," he said quietly. "Are you… okay?"
Rabaab hesitated, then nodded. "I'm fine… It's just… something's happening."
Jawad stepped inside, eyes flickering to the mirror. "That thing… it's dangerous."
"I know," she whispered. "But I have to try."
Jawad frowned. "There's always a price for deals with the unknown."
She smiled sadly. "Then I guess I'm ready to pay it."
That night, as the clock struck 3:13 AM, Rabaab prepared herself. She lit candles around the room, their flickering flames casting eerie shadows.
Holding the pendant tightly, she whispered the ancient words she'd found in the torn note, summoning Zal'Kor.
The mirror's surface rippled, and the shadow emerged — larger, darker, more menacing.
But this time, Rabaab was ready.
She spoke firmly, "Zal'Kor, I offer myself in exchange for your freedom."
The shadow hesitated, then reached out with spectral hands, touching her forehead lightly.
A surge of cold and fire flooded her senses — memories not her own flashed before her eyes: betrayal, love, pain, and endless night.
She gasped, feeling the weight of Zal'Kor's curse settle within her.
As the shadow dissolved, the mirror cracked — but the glass remained unbroken.
Rabaab collapsed, exhausted but alive.
Jawad rushed to her side. "What happened?"
She smiled faintly. "I took the firststep. The curse... it's partially mine now."
