Alice came into school everywhere weirdly social and full.
"What's going on?" She asked Nora as they walked to class.
"Oh, I'm not really sure. I heard someone big is coming to school but that may be a rumor. I think they want to host something."
"Oh." Alice tried her best to ransack her mind about what was going on but came down to nothing.
"Anyways, I saw your sister crying on Switch. The post is viral. She was trending on the school platform. I think she still is. She got so much hate." Nora said, seemingly excited about the news.
"She still is? You're happy about it." Alice said pointedly
"Of course I am! She wanted to falsely accuse you of something you didn't do. You would have gotten suspended or worse or her fans would have tried to do worse things to you."
"You do have a fair point."
"You don't seem all too happy about it though. Do you feel sorry for her?" Nora asked absentmindedly, scrolling on her phone.
"Sorry is the last thing I feel for her and this is the least of the things she's going to suffer."
"Uh Uh." Nora said distractedly scrolling on her phone.
A long comfortable silence followed.
"Yes!" Nora screeched suddenly.
"What's the matter? Are you okay?"
"I've seen the reason why everywhere's so rowdy and full."
"Okay?
"The school's 120th anniversary is coming up. It's going to be the biggest event of the year. Past alumni and the food is going to be so good."
"There's a huge performance. Singing, Acrobatics, anything you could ever imagine here. I'm so happy." Nora happily squealed.
"Oh. That."
"Won't you be contesting for the audition for the solo?"
"Solo? What makes you think I sing?" Alice said, looking at Nora.
"I don't know. You just look like someone that has a phenomenal voice."
"Oh. I see.". Her mind drifted as she thought about the things that had happened before.
***"*****
"Alice, Alice." Octavia shouted as she walked towards her in the wide hallway.
"Octavia! I've been looking everywhere for you. Some people chased me away from your class and said you didn't want to see me."
"Why would I ever say that? You know I love you." She said moving them to a much secluded corner.
"What did you want to tell me?" She asked as she looked around making sure no one was by them.
"You know the school's anniversary is coming up."
"I'm well aware."
"I'm going to audition for the solo. The auditions are starting tomorrow from what I've heard and I'm literally so excited."
"Oh! I heard about that too but they moved the audition location to the stadium."
"The stadium?" Alice asked, confused.
"Yes. You know there are so many people contesting. They want it to be huge. It's by 9am and the stadium is this one. " She pulled her phone out, typing out a location.
"That's so far! It's like the other side of town."
"But you'll still be there though? I'll be sad if I don't see you. We're to dress in character too. Like costumes because the presentation is like a dance drama so they were thinking like birds from Rio. I'm dressing like that for my audition."
"Understood!"
It was the next day and finally the day of the audition. Alice was in a cab and on her way to the stadium in her costume.
"So what are you doing there?" The cab driver asked her side, eyeing her through the mirror.
"Oh! My university has this anniversary and then they're doing auditions here. It's going to be a really big event."
"An audition? There's nothing going on there kid. Matter of fact it has been closed for a little over a year because it's undergoing renovations."
"What?" Alice said, confused. She pulled out her phone to call Octavia.
"The number you're calling is currently unavailable. Please try again later, thank you." A sharp female robotic voice said.
"Please excuse me sir. Take me back to the school.
Alice rushed back to school noticing a lot of weird looking from colleagues.
"What's that?" Someone whispered, snickering at her.
"Please where are the auditions going on?" She asked a girl.
"Auditions were done at 7am. The solo has already been chosen."
"Do you know where Octavia is?"
"Octavia?" She said, looking her up and down.
"Yes. She's my sister."
"She's your huh? She's just in there."
"That little brat should be in the stadium by now. She's so dumb and naive." Alice stood outside the door as she heard a voice that sounded so much like Octavia.
"Octavia?"
"Oh my goodness. Who is that freak?" Octavia said laughing.
"It's me, Alice. You told me that there was a costume and everyone had to wear this."
"I didn't say anything like that, Alice. Are you still on that medication? Are you hearing things?"
"No, you said-"
"Well, I sent a message about the time and details for the audition and you didn't come. Well I was chosen as the solo."
"Oh."
"Octavia, isn't this your stupid sister? Why's she wearing a bird costume? I didn't know it was April's fools Day." The girls laughed.
"Stop." Octavia said, not stopping them, a smirk on her face.
Alice left with tears in her eyes.
*********
"That annoying thing happens again." Alice said suddenly.
"What the hell are you talking about about Alice? Are you okay?"
"I am and I'm going to sign up for that audition. I have a few things to make up for."
"I mean that's fine."
Nora pulled out her phone suddenly looking around.
"Are you waiting for someone?" Alice asked.
"Oh yeah. My boyfriend said he's around her." She said, her cheeks pink.
"Oh."
"Babe!" A male voice sounded, moving towards them.
Oh. It was him. The havoc in Nora's life.
"I missed you so much." Nora said, looking up at him with literal heart eyes.
"Yeah and who's your friend?" He said, manhandling Alice with his eyes.
"Alice, this is my boyfriend Darren and Darren, this is my friend Alice."
"It is certainly nice to meet you." He said ogling her.
"I don't feel the same way."
"Oh well." He said laughing nervously.
"Alice! There you are."
