Thankfully, the goblins arrived on cue, although they very likely would've appeared anyways since we are releasing both of our auras
Goblin:Oh great ones, what have brought you here?
Kaijuno:Nothing much, we're just hoping around on this trail
Goblin:Well if it doesn't trouble you two, may you both please come with us back to our village?
Rimuru:(what are your thoughts on this?)
Kaijuno:(hmmmm, I say we go with them, I did say to wander until opportunity arrives to us, and here is opportunity)
Rimuru:(Really?... I guess you aren't wrong. Let's go check out what's up with these goblins)
There's not really any difference from what happened here and what went on in the source material. The elderly Goblin explained their struggle against the direwolves, losing his first born son, and begged for me and rimuru to save them. We demand in exchange for protection, they'll offer themselves in their loyalty to which they quickly agreed to.
Then we went over to injured goblins and began to heal them. Unfortunately, since we lack humanoid forms to summon a full potion blob on our palms, we had to semi devour them to heal their injuries. I gotta say, it's really uncomfortable to think that I just someone sitting around within me. As a slime, it's technically more naturally but the idea still doesn't sit right with me.
The goblins were so amazed by what we did in front of them that they already started to do some worshiping bows. Not exactly sure how to feel about being a figure to look up to, let alone worship.
But the awkward mood was cut short, since in the distance, howls of the savage direwolves could be heard. All the goblins began to yell out in panic. Me and Rimuru stepped out of the tent to see the commotion, morale was already low for them to begin with but with how quickly they despaired, it showed how completely grim it was for them. Well they were given a short speech to help boost moral, let try that out then
Kaijuno:There is nothing to fear, for WE ARE HERE!
The goblins looked toward my direction
...SHIT! I didn't think about what to say after that super lame line. Um,um RIMURU!
Kaijuno:(Rimuru! Back me up here)
Rimuru:(alright, alright)
Rimuru:Exactly, nothing shall happen to this village while under our protection.
The goblins finally began to be at ease after hearing that short speech of encouragement. After that fiasco, we got started on fortifying the village... to the best we can manage. Hey look, if all you have are a bunch of small goblins that are clearly not engineers and a couple hours to work with, building a surround fence made out of twigs would be nothing short of a miracle.
Then came the night, which was followed by the howls of the direwolves. Me and Rimuru stood as the front defense while the goblins stayed behind the fence, with bow ready for action. I did make sure to have the elderly goblin be in supervisor position for the children goblins since he would've been ineffective in the battlefield with his body's current condition.
We waited shortly after hearing the dire Wolves howls. Soon after they appeared before us.
Alpha: tonight is the night we tear through those measly goblins
Alpha's son: father look up ahead
Alpha: those goblins built a fence? And with two slimes infront too. What a pathetic attempt of defense.
Rimuru:Direwolves, turn back now while you still have your lives!
Alpha: Don't you dare look down on us direwolves! Charge my kin, break through their feeble fence and devour those puny goblins!
As commanded, two direwolves charged ahead of the pack, but instead of getting the first taste of goblins, they instead were shot down by the goblins arrows
Alpha: HOW!? Taken out by sharpened twigs, wait those webbing
Kaijuno:that's steel threads for ya
Alpha:It's no use, those tiny webs won't protect you
After stating that, the Alpha began running through the field, ripping through the steel threads with its fangs. It lounged itself at the two slimes, frighting the goblins, until...
Alpha, what? What is this now!?
Rimuru:That's sticky threads for you
Rimuru was a about to launch a water blade at the Alpha. But I believe killing off the Alpha would be a missed opportunity, so I made sure to step before they launch the attack
Kaijuno:(wait! WAIT! Don't kill off the alpha)
Rimuru:(why not?)
Kaijuno:(cause I have an idea, eat one of the already dead durewolves and follow my lead)
We proceed to move towards the two corpses and devour one for each of us. With this, we both gain the ability to mimic the direwolf race, which is what we did.
Not before shooting a water spear at the alpha's leg before lowering him
Kaijuno:(I'm gonna give a quick intimidation, then let out a huge roar. Do it alongside me, ok)
Rimuru:(alright, hope this works)
Kaijuno:(Oh it will)
Kaijuno:See that! We already bested your alpha, your lives are under our judgement to decide. Surrender now or FACE YOUR DEATH!
On cue, we both let out a huge roar that frightened both sides. The direwolves, instead if running as rimuru expected, approached us slowly in the middle of our roar. As expected, they lowered themselves in submission, accepting us as their new masters.
Rimuru: Well, that was unintentional
Kaijuno:but hey it worked.
And with that, concludes the unofficial first war of what will soon to be tempest.
Next thing to do would be to declare the new formed unity and name them. But since it's late, we'll sleep on it till the morning.
*The Next Day*
The atmosphere is uneasy, to say the least. After all, both side of the conflict killed some folks from the other, and now they're just standing next to their former enemies. Same as the original, their new unity was declared, getting them to pair up with eachother. Then Rimuru offered to name them all which surprised everyone. Of course, everyone except rimuru knew why this was such a big deal. But with our insistence, they happily accept it, much to the likely dismay of our big brother veldora, who not gonna enjoy the feeling getting his magicules sapped from him but now twice at the same time. As such the first of MANY name sprees has begun. It was as tedious as you can expect it to be. I just followed rimuru's formula of just having Wise Sage give me auto generated names. Of course, I made sure to include the instruction of have gob be at the beginning of the name, hopefully I didn't make any continuity errors by giving any official characters the wrong names.
With all the goblins out of the way, time for the direwolves. I kinda wanted to have a wolf companion myself, but not exactly sure about settling with a wolf that'll be an inferior version of ranga. Hence why I made sure the father was spared, something must've been effective in the bloodline.
Speaking of who, he seems to have recovered his missing leg thanks to one of my full potions.
Kaijuno: Rimuru, you okay if I name the alpha.
Rimuru: Sure, I was gonna start with the one that had a star on their head anyways.
Kaijuno:Sweet!
Okay, what to name this guy? Maybe mix ranga and fang, so Fanga.... Franga? No, that doesn't sound good enough. Well, he's a predator animal that failed to catch his prey, like Wiley Coyote. Maybe try to work off that hmmmm... Oh I got it
Kaijuno: You shall be named Willfla
And just like with the goblins, the newly named direwolf glowed in response to his name acceptance.
While that went on, Rimuru gifted the wolf with a star symbol with name Ranga. Buy since they only named half of the goblins, they still had some magicules left over for more names. I'm already causing a butterfly effect already. Let's not push our luck anymore here.
Kaijuno: hey rimuru, I don't know why but I'm starting to get tired by all this naming for some reason.
Rimuru: I know making up a bunch of names is tedious, but you don't need to be so dramatic about
Kaijuno:No, No, this isn't boredom. I feel like I'm being drained each time I give a name, would it be due to the glow that keeps appearing?
Rimuru: Really? Hmmmmm....
Rimuru is thinking for a good momment, likely asking Great Sage about what happens when we name monster. Shortly after, rimuru jumps a bit in shock, definitely realizing the consequences for naming so many and how much we just used up today.
Rimuru:Ah! You know what. Let's call it for a day, I'm quite tired myself, hahaha.
Kaijuno:(Yeaaaaah.., NOW you noticed)
We called it for the day, and planned to continue naming by the next day. But of course the evolution was already set.
