Julian stared out the window, mind racing. Max's thumb drive burned a hole in his pocket. Whatever was on it could change everything… or destroy them.


Eve broke the silence. "We need to decrypt that drive before Black Echo traces us."


Carter nodded, fingers already dancing over his tablet. "I've set up a secure server in a remote location. Military-grade encryption, but if there's a failsafe, it'll trigger here."


Reese smirked. "Failsafes are like traps. Good thing I'm good at disarming those."


Julian's eyes locked on Reese. "Then you're on watch. No surprises."


The van rolled to a stop at an abandoned warehouse outside the city. Inside, the team moved swiftly—setting up gear, securing the perimeter.


Carter connected the thumb drive. Lines of code cascaded down screens faster than the eye could catch. Suddenly, a warning flashed: Intrusion detected.


Eve's voice was sharp. "Black Echo's hacking us back."


Suddenly, the lights flickered. The warehouse plunged into darkness. A chilling voice echoed from the speakers—digitally warped but unmistakable.


"Welcome back, D7. You can't hide from the ghosts in the machine."


Julian's hand went to his rifle. "Show yourself."


Static cleared to reveal Wraith's masked face on every screen. "Max wasn't the end. He's only the beginning."


A pulse surged through the building—alarms blared, screens exploded into firewalls.


"Lock it down!" Carter yelled, typing furiously.


Reese moved to the windows, peering out. "Enemies incoming. Ground units."


Eve grabbed a smoke grenade. "We're going to have company."


Julian's jaw clenched. "Then we make this place a fortress. We hold… or we die."


Outside, shadows moved with deadly precision. Black Echo operatives, ghost-like in their tactics, encircled the building.
