The unwanted attention followed me all day. I caught boys staring at me in the hallway, whispering as I passed. Girls who'd never spoken to me suddenly wanted to be my friend. The novelty of my transformation seemed to be the hot topic of the day, and I hated every second of it.
"Elara! Wait up!" called a voice I vaguely recognized as I hurried toward the parking lot after my last class.
I turned to see Ryan, a wolf from my biology class, jogging to catch up with me. He'd never spoken more than two words to me before today.
"Hey," he said, flashing a smile that I'm sure worked wonders on other girls. "I was wondering if you needed a ride home?"
"I have my own car, thanks," I lied. In truth, I was planning to take the bus since Ethan had basketball practice.
"Well, maybe we could grab coffee sometime?" His eyes traveled down my body in a way that made my skin crawl.
"I'm pretty busy," I mumbled, stepping back.
