“Rumors about what happened between Gareth and Adrianne after Her Highness’ coming-of-age ceremony are spreading widely. Most of them say that he tried to violate her but failed.”
“So what? Is that any reason for the successor of the Liepherr family to marry a girl who’s practically a commoner?”
“My dear, it is true that it isn’t a flaw for a young man to be lustful, but that’s only if everything is moderately unknown and both sides stay quiet about the incident. An event that occurred in the palace with so many witnesses is different.” The duke sweated profusely under Petra’s menacing gaze, but he still tried to persuade her. “It’s only natural for a woman to request marriage in a situation where her marriage with another has become all but unacceptable.
