Chen Pingsheng woke up a little late. It was already past nine when he checked his phone. He stared at the screen for a few seconds, then slowly sat up and got out of bed.
After brushing his teeth and washing his face, he changed into a clean set of clothes. Before heading out, he picked up a Richard Mille watch and strapped it on. Barrel shaped design, gray titanium case, green strap. The face was transparent you could see all the gears moving inside. Looked expensive, and honestly, it was.
Today he had a few things to do.
First, buy some decent clothes. Second, take jade bracelets he found to a jewelry shop and get it appraised. The bracelet was smooth and round, a clear green color that looked pretty high quality.
As for selling it? If it was worth over five million, no way. He'd keep it. But if it was in the hundred-thousand range to 4 million, he'd let it go without thinking twice.
That's why he planned to shop first. No way he will not walk into a fancy store or a jewelry place dressed in these cheap clothes.
He was sure of one thing showing up looking poor always brings unnecessary trouble and trouble was something he hated more than anything.
At past ten Chen Pingsheng drove out of from his community. He drove with eased onto the main road heading towards the Third Ring.
The traffic was worst, with traffic jams everywhere, he arrived at his destination an hour later.
China World Mall, found the underground parking lot, took a ticket, and parked near the escalator. He locked the car and made his way up.
The mall was air-conditioned, and the cool air hit as he stepped inside. On the second floor, he found what he came for: Ermenegildo Zegna.
When Chen Pingsheng walked in, there were few customers in the store, choosing clothes.
There were six staff members in the store. As soon as Chen Pingsheng walked in, a good-looking young woman with light makeup and a warm smile came over to greet him.
He was dressed simply, nothing flashy but the Richard Mille on his wrist said more than enough. Nobody in the store was going to underestimate him.
"Hello, sir. My name is Wan Qianya, can I help you with anything?" The woman asked politely, still smiling.
Chen Pingsheng paused for a second, then spoke calmly."I'm not too familiar with your summer collection. Can you help me pick out a few things? Shirts, trousers, blazers, polos... maybe a pair of sneakers and some belts."
He glanced around, then added."Let's keep budget around Two Hundred Thousand total."
Chen Pingsheng didn't speak loudly just the normal volume most people used. Even so, some girls passing by stole quiet glances at him, while a few guys looked over with envy and a bit of jealousy.
Two hundred thousand yuan. Even in the future, that was no small amount for shopping, especially when it came to men's clothing.
Wan Qianya, led him to a private room and politely asked him to take a seat on the sofa.
She brought over a cup of coffee. It was a little bitter, but he didn't complain.
Not long after, she came back with several sets of summer clothes simple and stylish. No flashy logos, but anyone who knew fashion could tell they weren't cheap.
She didn't try to oversell or talk too much which he truly appreciate.
Chen Pingsheng picked out eight complete outfits matching trousers, shirts, T-shirts, belts, and a few different pairs of shoes. He bought everything as sets.
When he reached the checkout, the staff gave him a warm smile.
Five minutes later, everything was packed neatly. He had already changed into one of the new outfits, casually cutting off the tags before heading to the counter.
"Sir, your total is 197,000 yuan," the cashier said with a smile, handing him the bill.
Chen Pingsheng didn't say anything. He simply took out his bank card and swiped it.
Right after that, Wan Qianya stepped over and asked politely, "Mr. Chen, would you like to take these with you, or should we have them delivered?"
He shook his head. "No need. I'll take them myself."
As the bags were being handed over, the store manager approached. "Mr. Chen, would it be alright to get your phone number? If we have any new arrivals in the future, we'd love to let you know."
"Sure," he replied, and gave them his number.
With that, he left the store carrying several large bags. He took the elevator down to the underground parking lot, put everything into the trunk of his Audi, then drove toward KFC.
He ordered two big hamburgers, a couple of fried chicken legs, and a Pepsi for takeaway. After paying at the counter, he carried the food and walked back to his car, heading straight to the rental community.
He parked in his parking lot. When he opened the trunk to take his stuff out, he suddenly froze.
"Ah… shit," he slapped his forehead. "I forgot to appraise jade bracelets."
He looked at the jade bracelets lying in the corner of the trunk with a dumb expression.
"Whatever. I've got nothing else going on, so there's no need to rush thing's."He grabbed all the shopping bags with his left hand, the food bag in his right. As for the jade, he just tossed it into the glove box and locked the car without thinking too much.
He rented a room on the eighth floor, and the building didn't have an elevator. Back then, climbing all those stairs every day was a pain. Legs burning, out of breath it sucked, But now? It was nothing. After getting Sukuna powers, stuff like this didn't even register.
Honestly, if he really wanted, he could just jump straight up to his floor in one go. A single leap and he'd be at his door.
But he didn't reason if someone happened to see him pulling off some Superman-type move, it'd bring unnecessary trouble. He didn't want attention, So he held back his impulse.
Of course, if someone did see too much… he wouldn't exactly panic. He could deal with it make them forget it, or if it really came down to it, silence them, Permanently! But that wasn't really his style just because he can kill people doesn't mean he wants to go around massacring random civilians. That kind of bloodshed over something small? Too much of a hassle.
He preferred keeping things simple, low-key, and chill.
After getting back home and locking the door, he tossed the food bag on the table. Then, one by one, he stuffed the new clothes into his closet didn't even bother folding them.
Once that was done, he picked up the food bag again and teleported back to the apocalyptic world.
He landed on top of a half sliced building same building which he have slice yesterday for fun.
After collecting those rare materials, he'd jumped around a bunch of rooftops and kind of… Slice some of the buildings. Okay, fine. He looted everything he could and left the place half-ruined.
Looking down at the broken remains, he scratched his head.
"…Yeah, maybe I went a little too far yesterday." But before he could think more about it, his expression suddenly shifted. His eyes narrowed slightly as he turned to look toward the west.
Something didn't feel right a faint, strange familiar feeling like pressure building in the air. Negative emotions, gathering in one place. His expression changed slightly.
"Huh… already?" He muttered. "I thought it'd take at least two days for the first one to show up."
His tone was half-surprised, half-amused. The feeling coming from that direction wasn't strong yet, but it was definitely a curse spirit.
He smirked a little.
"Well, guess I'll go say hello to the little fella."
He looked at the food bag in his hand, opened it, and pulled out a fried chicken leg.
"Tch… still warm."
Taking a big bite, he chewed slowly, clearly enjoying the taste.
Then, without any rush, he started moving while munching on the chicken hopping from one rooftop to another.
