Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: The Premiere

Typically, a movie premiere ceremony precedes its official release. As the screenwriter and head director, Yàqīng naturally couldn't be absent. But what are industry conventions to someone who refused to play by the rules?

Yàqīng had left everything to Rita, allowing the beautiful girls under his command to make a public appearance at the premiere while he stayed behind with everyone else, cozying up in the Golden Courtyard to watch it in their home theater on the first floor.

"Make way, make way~ ♥" Elysia, for some reason dressed in a maid outfit, came bustling through, holding a large bucket of popcorn in each arm, her cheeks stuffed full.

Sitting next to Yàqīng was none other than Kevin.

Because of Yàqīng's movie release, Dr. MEI, Mobius, and Vill-V had a meeting and decided to give all World Serpent employees a paid day off. This finally freed up a certain overworked office worker to watch a movie with MEI.

"MEI, let me tell you, this movie..."

"Ahem!"

Before Kevin could finish his excited sentence, he was cut off by Yàqīng's pointed cough and swallowed his words.

"Kevin, what about the movie?" MEI, who was sitting on Kevin's other side and chewing on a straw, heard him stop mid-sentence. She tilted her head, looking puzzled.

Seeing MEI's adorable head tilt, Kevin blushed. If this had been the college-aged Kevin, he would have been rendered speechless. But the Kevin of today simply gave an awkward smile and gently wiped a crumb of popcorn from her face.

MEI's face turned red.

"Eh~? Yàqīng, do you have a cold?" Elysia asked with concern.

"I'm fine, Ely." Yàqīng plucked a piece of popcorn from the bucket in Elysia's arms.

Unlike Kiana, Elysia wasn't possessive about her food.

In the row behind Yàqīng, Dr. Mobius glanced at MEI and thought irritably, A woman in love... what a waste of such a brilliant mind. Mobius had long guessed that the movie would have something to do with Kevin. When it came to love, Mobius never felt that anyone in the world was worthy of her, except...

Yàqīng suddenly felt a chill run down his spine from behind.

"The movie's starting," Kosma said, as brief as ever, but everyone was used to it.

[February 1, 2000, Midnight. The Siberian Tundra.]

[A white meteor streaked across the starry night sky. In a snow-covered pine forest, an out-of-place tower, so tall it pierced the heavens, stood upon the plains. The camera panned out to a cliff, where a deer with brownish-gray fur stared into the distance. Its pupils flickered with an unusual light. Beneath its large antlers was a smaller, crimson-purple pair. Suddenly, the deer was startled. Its legs had already begun to mutate. The sound of the deer's hooves on the snow blended with the sound of leather shoes on metal. The scene shifted to the interior of the Babylon Tower. Under dim blue light, two researchers fled in panic but were killed by several beams of light. The camera switched to the researchers' point of view. Through a blurry perspective, a ghostly figure bathed in white light was finally revealed. Amid a terrifying, high-pitched laugh, the screen went black.]

"So scary! Brother Yàqīng, this is basically a horror movie!" Pardofelis hugged Can tightly. The scene had made her shut her eyes in fear. Only after it was over did she turn to complain to Yàqīng.

Yàqīng just smiled and nudged his chin toward the big screen.

Pardofelis looked back, confused.

[The black screen was suddenly torn open by a pair of white hands. The specter's round, purple pupils seemed to stare intently at the audience.]

["Found you!"]

"Ah!" Pardofelis let out a blood-curdling scream, dropping both her popcorn bucket and Can in her fright.

Fortunately, Kalpas, sitting beside her, had quick reflexes and caught them, only spilling a few pieces. He said coldly, "Don't waste food."

"Sorry, Brother Kalpas." Pardofelis blushed with embarrassment and took the popcorn bucket back from his hands.

Can looked at its owner with human-like disdain, then trotted over to an empty seat nearby, curled up, and went to sleep.

Pardofelis wasn't the only one who was scared.

In different locations:

Kiana was so frightened she hid in Mei's arms, but Bronya clearly saw the playful glint in the Tuna's eyes. There wasn't a trace of fear. Bronya sighed.

Theresa was so terrified she gripped Himeko's arm for dear life. Himeko sucked in a sharp breath; a purple bruise was already forming on her fair skin.

Sirin, however, wasn't scared. She knew this was her character. She ground her teeth in anger like a furious beast, which completely baffled Bella, who thought she was hungry again.

["February 1, 2000, midnight. In the Schicksal Babylon Laboratory in Siberia, all 322 researchers suddenly vanished overnight," a deep male voice narrated as the screen showed the empty laboratory. "Surveillance footage showed that the researchers seemed to see something terrifying before they disappeared into thin air. But aside from some white light, the cameras captured nothing." The scene switched to a blond man in an office, making a verbal record: "I am ordering a thorough investigation into this 'mysterious' incident." The screen went black again, putting the audience on high alert, but this time it was just a line of white text.]

[Thus, the prelude to the Second Honkai Eruption began.]

Crunch, crunch. Kallen kept popping chips into her mouth.

As the Overseer of Schicksal, Otto naturally wouldn't buy a ticket and go to a theater. He projected the movie onto a wall, snuggled up in bed with Kallen in a room he had even named "Otto and Kallen's Little Love Nest."

"Otto, is that your voice? It sounds quite nice."

Kallen's casual comment made Otto's entire day.

[Under a clear blue sky, the setting was introduced: February 2nd, noon. Somewhere in Europe, at Schicksal HQ's floating island cluster, First Airport. Theresa, wearing a short qipao embroidered with auspicious clouds and her hair in twin buns, held a young Kiana in her arms. She asked shyly, "Do we really have to take a picture dressed like this?" After the photo, Theresa chatted with Cecilia. Cecilia, in a long white dress, was stunning from the moment she appeared, especially with the blue flower on her chest, which added a touch of purity. Watching little Kiana wave at her from the grass, Theresa thought to herself, I wish these peaceful days could last a little longer. But in the next second, she received an urgent order from the Overseer.]

"Hmm, although it doesn't perfectly capture my little Theresa's cuteness, the modeling is very detailed. I'll give it a 90," Otto scored to himself, then muttered under his breath, "That outfit is very cute. Should I buy a set for little Theresa?"

Kallen rolled her eyes at him.

[The scene switched.]

[February 2nd, noon. Arizona, USA, military base. Below a squadron of large fighter jets, a brown-haired man stood with his hands in his pockets, a suit jacket draped over his shoulders, exuding an aura of invincibility. The reflection from his black-framed glasses hid his eyes. He raised a hand slightly, giving the order for a large mecha to attack. Instantly, six missiles shot towards the man. He looked up, his eyes glowing red, and the six missiles began to disintegrate, their parts clattering to the ground in front of him. "No, the power is still not enough..." Just as he finished speaking, a beautiful blue-haired woman walked up to him. She told him about the recent events in the Siberian tundra and reminded him that Schicksal's Overseer, Otto, would discover 'her' sooner or later. The man was completely unfazed and told Einstein to have Tesla deploy the Titan mechs to Siberia. "We might not be able to persuade 'her'..." Welt looked at his palm, then clenched his right hand into a fist, his tone deadly serious. "We must be prepared to eliminate 'her'."]

"Mechs!" Welt Yang's eyes lit up.

[Next, flashes of figures in battle flickered across the screen. A massive blue and white dragon soared into the sky. Amidst the swirling clouds, the movie's title appeared.]

[Honkai: The Second Eruption]

"In those quick flashes of characters just now, did I see Class Rep?" Kiana asked belatedly, looking over at Fu Hua, who was sitting not far away.

"Old Timer, when did you go record your lines?" It wasn't just Kiana who didn't know; even Fu Hua's own sister, Senti, was clueless, staring at her sister with wide, surprised eyes.

Fu Hua's tone was as calm as ever. "It was here in the Courtyard, in Eden's recording studio."

"Damn it, Yàqīng didn't ask me to do any voice acting!" Senti complained.

"Senti..."

"Hm~? What is it?"

"No swearing."

"Oh..."
