Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Far from Home

After the tragedy of Lynx's father death he packed a few things in a bag and ventured out leaving his home behind, he was ready to explore everything and most importantly find a way to the Above.

Lynx walked for days and taking shelter at random places, the death of his father was still weighing on him as he could feel his absence, a panging and heavy feeling was rooted in his chest and he would sometime cry. He was very young and there were much things he didn't learn about life outside his door, each day Lynx would remember his father and tried not to cry, he would be like the brave heroes in his father's stories and so he kept pushing forward. Many days had passed and Lynx was still traveling around hoping for an opportunity to one day reach Skyland, but one never came. As Lynx kept walking he soon found a structure in front of him, he walked closer slightly dragging his foot to get a better observation, he felt so tired while approaching. He slowly made his way over and entered, he spotted something on the ground and pulled on it as it revealed an opening. He then went down a ladder slowly and called out.

"Hello?" Lynx called out hoping for an answer, but the only answer he got was the low echo of his own voice. Lynx turned his head looking around his surrounding but there was no one. He didn't understand why but the place made him feel somewhat comfortable and at the same time sad, he placed his bag down and sat down on the floor and started crying. He woke up some time later and still there was no one, he thought maybe the place was abundant and so he decided to live there, Lynx made the place his new home and it felt like his home and that's where he lived ever since.

The flashback ended as Lynx jolted as if he was just being woken by someone, his eyes were widen upon learning about the past he had forgotten. He relived a few years of his life within a few seconds, his body felt numb and he looked as if he was in a state of shock and tears slowly flowed from his eyes.

"Father" Lynx whispered to himself.

Lynx was flowing with mixed emotions and was confused about everything, he couldn't process anything, he slowly replayed a few of his father's words in his head, but they made no sense to him. Soon he felt the corner of his eyes darkening and within seconds his entire vision went black and then he passed out, fainting on spot once more.

"Look at that he fainted", one of the members laughed while pointing.

"Such a weakling", another added and scoffed.

"Come to think of it, I didn't sen-" a member said trying to speak through his laugh, but before he could finish his sentence it was cut by a roaring sound. They all turned their heads looking in the direction.

"I guess we can manage one more"

"Yeah let's get this done with and head back, this place reeks"

The Skylanders then ran off soon transforming, but that was there greatest mistake. They reached where the sound came from within two minutes, but they froze in place as their eyes scanned over the creature, they knew they wouldn't be able to defeat it and since they did a fight earlier they didn't have their full strength, their chances of winning seemed like a mere air gap, or simply zero. The Skylanders decided the best course of action was to retreat, but before any actions could be taken the creature that resembled a worm and had metal and iron objects that formed its body. A core made all metallic objects attract to it and that's how it created a body and was now a Monster. The creature saw the Skylanders as prey and wasted no time killing them within seconds. The worm like creature leaped and then dived into the ground close to where Lynx was. The tremor of the earth caused Lynx to shake as his body fell into the hole and got caught with the creature's body. The creature was woken from it slumber and was now on a rampage, creatures that had massive bodies were normally sleeping and only woke when they were waken.

Lynx was still passed out and was still caught within the creature's body as it continued its rampage, while the creature moved so did Lynx's body as it swayed from place to place his skin being slit open by the sharp ends of the objects. The creature traveled for days without stop still in rage crossing waters and lands. One day it dived into the ground, traveling underground as it leaved a trail as it went deeper down. When it was satisfied with the depth it stopped moving and went back into a deep sleep. After minutes and then hours that had passed Lynx regained consciousness and slowly opened his eyes, he slowly looked around to only a dark surrounding, the space felt cramped and was blocked by all sides. His breathing was heavy as his insides felt tight, he also felt hot and was sweating, he didn't know where he was but he knew he needed to escape, trying to help his breathing under control he carefully pushed around on all sides and gritted his teeth as he felt pain throughout his body, he was in discomfort being in the small blocked in space and he could feel himself slowly getting dizzy. He didn't want to pass out again or he might die and so he started kicking at all sides more aggressively ignoring the pain he was feeling and soon a space opened up and without hesitation he instantly made movements to crawl through. He stuck his head out and gasped for air but it wasn't enough, the tight feeling still lingered in his chest. The air outside was not much better, his surrounding was still dark, but it appeared a bit brighter he thought.

"Did I end up in the garbage?" Lynx wondered to himself.

Lynx moved himself upwards trying to escape from where he was as everywhere he looked was covered in junk and so he continued on a path crawling upwards. As he kept moving he looked behind him and as he did the creature slightly moved causing Lynx to shake, with the sudden movements Lynx almost lost balance but he grabbed onto something that was within reach. He didn't know what his hand caught onto, but it slit his palm causing it to bleed, he held in his cries and refused to let go. The shaking stopped and Lynx continued to move again finally reaching the mouth of the hole. He climbed through squinting his eyes upon reaching as they started hurting, as he crawled out he threw himself to the ground panting heavily as if he was catching the air with his mouth. His eyes hurt by the brightness and he could feel himself trying to keep his eyes open. His body felt exhausted as if it had passed it's limits a million times already, he was covered in wounds and since they weren't taken care of they were still open and was bleeding, but less than before. He slowly but steadily stood up still feeling slightly dizzy as a flash of black flashed over his eyes, he was tired and dizzy mostly due to blood lost and even hunger. Lynx forced himself to stand and as he did he slowly looked around and was dumbfounded by his surroundings.

"Where… am I?" Lynx stuttered to himself. He was surrounded by grains of golden colored sand and garbage that was scattered, he could tell that he wasn't home. He managed to kneel down on both knees and cupped his hand and gathered the sand in is palms and brought it closer to his face studying it closely. Where Lynx lived the lands and skies were much darker than where he was now, he could hardly understand why. It was his first time seeing the new discovery in his hands, he slowly got closer to it and placed his tongue on it, but he couldn't understand what he was tasting or feeling and then tears came down his face. He was happy he discovered something new, but then the past events slowly resurfaced, mixing his happiness with sadness and frustration. During that moment a loud roar snapped him from his thoughts signaling a Monster was in the area. With swift movements Lynx dragged his body into hiding behind the laying junk, after a few minutes when everything went silent Lynx peeked out and saw nothing. He slowly started wondering around not knowing what to do as the area was new to him, and with his injuries he was struggling. Lynx kept dragging himself around and soon stopped to take rest and leaned against something, he then moved his hand and his elbow hit the object he was leaning against, it then shifted slightly and lights flickered. Lynx was startled and yanked away.

The Machine turned as the sand that was covering it slowly rolled down and looked at Lynx. Lynx realized that it somewhat had resemblance to the Skylanders and was about to move, but then he did nothing and only waited.

"How are you?", the machine asked with a rusted voice as dust fell from it, Lynx remained silent as he was dumbfounded and only looked at the machine that was looking down at him.

"The evolution continued" "Time had passed and things had changed" "Did we die?", the Robot before Lynx repeatedly asked questions, looking in all directions and with each movement it made a sound of rusty metals rubbing against one another was heard and specs of dust flew off accompanying the movements.

"You're not one of them" the Robot said without looking at Lynx

"What do you want?" The Robot asked this time facing Lynx, but he didn't answer as he didn't understand what the Machine in front of him meant so he remained quiet.

"Have you lost something?"

"Are you looking for something?"

"Do you seek health or wealth or possible power?"

"Or maybe revenge on those who have taken something from you?" the robot asked in a slow pacing voice. Lynx was lost, everything happened so fast that he didn't know what to do and was left in utter confusion, he only remained silent trying to put his thoughts together, but it was of no use his mind was overflowing. The Robot in front of Lynx kept repeating the same questions and statements over and over looking around with its slow movements and the rusty squeaky sounds followed. The sounds were loud and made Lynx's head hurt, soon he couldn't take the sounds anymore that were being such a distraction, he shouted as his feelings were spiraling uncontrollably.

"Just shut up!" Lynx shouted but the Robot kept repeating the questions from before as if it couldn't hear. Lynx tried covering and pulling his ears and soon he started banging his head with his hands and pulled on his hair.

"Shut up!"

"Shut up!"

"Shut up!" but the Robot paid no attention to his cries and kept talking repeating the same words over and over as if it didn't know any other words.

"I said shut up" Lynx screamed out as he gripped his hair along with his ears as tears pattered and dried when they met the sand and blood slowly ran along his face. The Robot went quiet upon hearing Lynx's scream and didn't speak.

"What do you want?" the Machine asked slowly.

"I don't know", "I just don't know" Lynx spoke with a quavering voice and he could feel the pain in his throat, but spoke despite the pain and cried. "I just don't know what to do, everything he taught is not what it turned out to be, I learned they were good and many more, but those good people killed my family and even my….father. What should I believe now? What should I do?" Lynx spoke with a trembling voice, with his face down.

"There's this burning and heavy feeling in my chest whenever I think of them that I can't explain, like I want to…" Lynx said holding his chest tightly, but before he finished his sentence he paused as the gruesome scenes flashed before him.

"That's hate" the Robot said and Lynx eyes widen still looking at the ground and stopped crying.

"Hate" "Hate" "Hate" Lynx repeated slowly as his he was familiarizing the word with himself.

"Well then I hate them, I hate them all, every one of them" Lynx said as he gripped the sand. "But I don't want it" Lynx slowly added and released his grip from the sand and started crying again. "I don't want to, but maybe everyone isn't like that, dad might still be right, right?" Lynx questioned. The word Father sounded foreign to him.

"I…I just wish all those who killed my family and friends never existed"

"I can help you" The Robot said before repeating all the lines from before. Lynx rose his head and looked at the Robot.

"You can?"
