Chapter 251 - Ch 251 : Hokage Assistant: Tsunade

Tsunade stayed in the lounge for quite a while.

When she finally came out, she saw Makoto talking with a ninja.

The ninja was momentarily stunned upon seeing Tsunade emerge from the lounge.

Tsunade's expression was somewhat unnatural, and her gaze avoided direct contact.

It was only when Makoto spoke again that the ninja snapped out of his thoughts.

After finishing their business, the ninja left but couldn't resist stealing another glance at Tsunade.

Samui was not present at the moment.

Tsunade had overheard earlier that she had gone to deliver some documents.

Tsunade slowly walked up to Makoto's side and spoke in a low voice, "I've finished tidying up."

"Mm."

She only received a simple, indifferent response.

Tsunade stood there awkwardly, feeling out of place.

Seeing Makoto buried in paperwork, she hesitated before asking, "Is there… anything else I should do?"

Makoto glanced at her.

While she wasn't exactly showing complete subservience, the arrogance from before had disappeared—this was the look of someone who had resigned herself to reality.

"There are apples in the fridge. Go wash one."

"Alright."

Tsunade turned and went back into the lounge.

After a while, she returned, handing Makoto a freshly washed apple, with tiny droplets of water still clinging to its surface.

Makoto sighed inwardly.

This woman clearly had no experience serving others.

Looking at her, he asked, "You expect me to eat it just like this?"

Tsunade was momentarily confused. "You can't eat it like this?"

After speaking, she suddenly realized that she wasn't simply offering fruit to a friend—she was serving someone.

Feeling a bit guilty, she muttered, "… Eating it with the skin is healthier."

"Slice it into a fruit plate."

"Oh…"

Tsunade responded, grumbling inwardly about his picky habits.

A short while later, she returned with a fruit plate and placed it on the table in front of Makoto.

However, the moisture from the plate seeped onto a document, dampening it.

Seeing this, Tsunade quickly apologized, "S-Sorry."

Makoto frowned and glanced at her, making Tsunade's heart skip a beat.

She couldn't help but wonder—was he going to make her kneel again?

She pressed her lips together hesitantly, still holding the fruit plate, unsure whether she should kneel or remain standing.

Suddenly, Makoto stood up from his seat.

He glanced at Tsunade, who was standing there in a daze, and said, "Let's go."

Tsunade was momentarily stunned. "Go… where?"

Makoto replied, "Do you think the Hokage's job is just sitting here reviewing documents?"

With that, he headed for the door.

Seeing this, Tsunade had no choice but to hurry after him.

She suddenly recalled what Samui had mentioned before—Makoto often went out in the afternoons, either for inspections or other matters.

Makoto went to the Mechanical Science Research Institute to check on its latest developments.

Upon entering the institute, Tsunade was completely stunned by everything inside.

There were all sorts of strange, intricate machines and electronic devices, and many uniformed personnel were operating them at their respective stations.

She had never seen anything like this before.

It was her first time coming here.

Previously, due to her connection with the Second Hokage, she had visited the Biological Science Research Institute, but this place was far more modernized.

Tsunade knew about the existence of this institution within the village, but she had never truly understood its purpose.

She only knew that the Tower of Solarity had originated from here.

The employees in the facility were also quite surprised to see Tsunade, casting curious glances in her direction.

Feeling somewhat resistant to these unusual stares, Tsunade quietly followed behind Makoto without saying a word.

The entire Scientific Craftsmen Division was currently focused on two major projects—one involving further research on Puppet String Manipulation, and the other concerning a vessel for Tailed Beast Chakra.

Both projects were personally overseen by Tonogawa, but progress was extremely slow.

The complexity of the internal sealing techniques within the Puppet String Manipulation system made it incredibly difficult to replicate even a single prototype, requiring an enormous amount of time and effort.

If they wanted to create a full-scale version, the choice of material for the body became a major challenge.

Using the original hardwood material was out of the question—it wouldn't be able to support something of such massive size.

Tonogawa explained that if they used steel, the weight would increase exponentially, making energy consumption for movement a serious issue.

Makoto inquired whether it was possible to develop a new alloy that was both lightweight and had enough durability and flexibility.

Tonogawa could only offer a bitter smile. "Something like that isn't so simple."

As for the container to store Tailed Beast Chakra, the Scientific Craftsmen Division initially planned to model it after the Tower of Solarity, creating a massive containment unit.

However, Makoto found the scale of such a structure impractical.

The same issue arose—if they reduced the size of the container, it might not be able to withstand the violent, chaotic nature of Tailed Beast Chakra.

Ordinary glass or other conventional materials were simply not viable.

Ultimately, the problem boiled down to the fact that despite the existence of chakra—an extraordinary energy—the world's technology was still too primitive to meet Makoto's expectations for many of his ideas.

If chakra had existed in my previous world, Makoto mused, there would already be warships and spacecraft filling the skies, with humanity venturing into the stars.

After a long moment of contemplation, Makoto suddenly spoke.

"Regarding the container for Tailed Beast Chakra, I have an idea."

Hearing this, Tonogawa immediately responded, "Please, tell me."

Makoto said, "We can create an artificial Jinchuriki."

Tōnogawa was momentarily stunned upon hearing this.

He wasn't a fool—after all, he had earned his position through intelligence and capability.

He immediately grasped the deeper implications of Makoto's words.

Creating a lifeform—or a pseudo-lifeform—to replace the role of a Jinchuriki, allowing it to contain the Tailed Beast Chakra.

Then, by continuously refining and modifying this entity, they could transform it into a pure vessel, a tool designed solely to store and endlessly output Tailed Beast Chakra…

After a moment of contemplation, Tonogawa said, "I'll consult Minister Kabuto about this as soon as possible."

A massive container was required to store the immense chakra of a Tailed Beast, yet it could be sealed within the small frame of a human body.

At the end of the day, it all came down to the incredible potential of the human body—an enigma that had barely been unraveled.

The Third Raikage's body was strong enough to withstand a Tailed Beast Bomb without sustaining a single injury.

Was that not more resilient and powerful than any alloy they could create?

Makoto felt as if he had fallen into a misconception.

Advancing technology would undoubtedly lower the threshold for obtaining power in the future, but that didn't necessarily mean the technology he envisioned would surpass the strength of humans themselves.

In fact, a highly developed technological future might eventually erode the power that ninja inherently possessed.

Tōnogawa noticed Makoto deep in thought and softly called out, "Lord Hokage?"

"Hm?"

"What are you thinking about, Lord Hokage?"

Makoto gazed at the surrounding mechanical instruments and said, "I'm wondering whether what we are creating now is beneficial or detrimental to ninja."

Tōnogawa countered with a question of his own, "Lord Hokage, do you believe the very existence of ninja is good or bad?"

Makoto glanced at him in surprise, only to see that Tōnogawa was smiling at him.

Unable to help himself, he smirked as well.

"You have a point."

Behind them, Tsunade listened to their conversation, completely lost in confusion.

Makoto said, "Put the material selection for the puppet on hold for now."

Tōnogawa asked, "Lord Hokage, do you have another idea?"

"Just a hypothesis."

Yet upon hearing this, Tonogawa grew excited.

Makoto continued slowly, "With our current level of technology, we can't produce the kind of alloy we need. Do you know about the Third Raikage?"

"I do."

"Does this giant creation of ours really have to be some cold, steel puppet?"
