Leonhardt watched as Kaelith reached the gates of his home before driving off. Kaelith's phone was still vibrating as he stood before the gates, and he looked down at it.
It was his mom calling. He picked up the call and pressed it to his ear. "I'm outside."
And then he hung up almost immediately.
He heard the sound of the gates opening, and as soon as the door swung open, he was met face-to-face with Mrs. Sinclair, her eyes brimming with tears.
Kaelith stepped foot into the building and was immediately pulled into her warm, familiar embrace. His black, curly hair was pressed into her hands, her head tucked beneath his chin, and his body tightly wrapped in her softness and warmth.
Kael found himself melting into that comforting warmth. He almost felt like he didn't want to ever leave it but then it happened. Mrs. Sinclair slowly freed Kaelith and looked up at him with eyes laced with emotion, tears still glistening in them.
