Chapter 26 - On the Verge of Insanity

Ryan had always heard tales of the exclusive Fallford Bay Yacht Club, nestled at the Bay Area Pier adjacent to the Regent Business Tower in Fallford Bay—a prestigious, private haven for yacht enthusiasts.

The ground-floor lobby of the club was a yacht showroom operated by a company called C&C Yacht Company, primarily catering to the wealthy residents of Fallford Bay.

After entering the exhibition hall, Ryan took off the assault rifle and the one-piece waterproof suit and threw them on the ground, then lay down directly on the high-end leather sofa in the hall to rest.

He lay there for a full hour before finally feeling a bit refreshed.

Ryan took out his cell phone and checked the time. It was already past seven in the evening and pitch dark in the exhibition hall.

He sat up, turned on his phone's flashlight, and began rummaging through the front desk and office areas.

Resting in the showroom was only one of his purposes; the main one was to find the yacht's user manual or operation manual.

This had been something Ryan had wanted to do for a while, but it was interrupted by the white wolf on the way, delaying it until now.

Seeing the violent storm outside on his way back, he knew it was only a matter of time before the city was flooded. Ryan felt it was necessary to familiarize himself with the yacht's operation as soon as possible.

If even this building couldn't withstand it, he would at least have a glimmer of hope to escape by yacht.

In the first-floor showroom, there were two luxury yachts on display. As long as Ryan found the operation manual or something similar, he could familiarize himself with the controls first.

Ten minutes later, Ryan found the book version of the operating manual and an instructional video on yacht operation in a tablet computer.

Without wasting any time, Ryan grabbed these materials and boarded one of the yachts in the showroom.

Once in the cockpit, he began to familiarize himself with how to start the yacht and the important switches and buttons according to the manual.

Realizing the importance of this, Ryan quickly entered a focused state, staring intently at the tutorial and studying it diligently, forgetting the passage of time outside.

After familiarizing himself with and memorizing it for an unknown period of time, he suddenly heard the sound of flowing water outside the yacht.

Ryan's expression changed slightly. He quickly left the cockpit and shone the flashlight on the ground. Only then did he realize that water had already flooded the exhibition hall's floor.

Ryan checked the time on his phone and found it was already midnight.

With the amount of rain outside, it was only natural for water to have seeped in after five hours.

Ryan knew that he couldn't stay there any longer, so he immediately left the yacht with the information and climbed upstairs.

When Ryan climbed to the Aurea Hotel where he was staying, it was almost one o'clock in the morning.

Exhausted, Ryan didn't want to move a single finger. He double-locked his door and collapsed onto the bed, falling asleep instantly.

Ryan slept until noon the next day, but when he got up, it was still dark outside, and the sun could not be seen.

If it weren't for the time indicating it was noon, Ryan would have thought it was still midnight.

Standing by the window, looking at the thunderstorms and rain outside, it was like the end of the world.

After just a few moments, he felt a strange sense of oppression, as if he couldn't breathe.

Looking down at the ground, although affected by the dim light, he couldn't see clearly.

But from a general glance, Ryan knew the water had already risen at least one floor high.

Ryan's expression changed. If this continued at this pace, the remaining one and a half months might be challenging. It was possible that before the 90 days were up, the water would flood the entire Regent Business Tower.

Ryan sighed. Even though he knew that danger was approaching, he had no choice now. He could only brace himself and endure.

Time flew by, and soon another seven days passed, marking Ryan's 45th day in the game, with half the time remaining until the end.

The violent storm outside showed no signs of stopping or even abating.

The entire world was pitch black 24/7, and the water on the ground had risen to about 50-60 meters high.

Ryan looked out and saw nothing but water as far as the eye could see.

The only thing that comforted Ryan was that the hotel had two power supply systems, one for the building and one self-contained generator.

So even if the building was flooded, the power system in the 200-meter-high Aurea Hotel could still operate.

Ryan's room had become the only source of light in this dark world.

Although Ryan stored a large amount of supplies here, enough to last for the remaining month and a half, he felt very depressed.

By the 50th day, a strange sense of panic grew deep within Ryan.

It wasn't fear of death, but a feeling of loneliness.

Humans are social creatures, and after being isolated without anyone to talk to for so long, Ryan could feel the emptiness and panic gradually consuming him.

Especially with the oppressive weather outside and the desperate situation of being trapped on an island, it was an extremely terrifying challenge to anyone's psychology.

Ryan began to find ways to dispel that emptiness and panic.

He looked for TV shows, movies and many books cached in his tablet, hoping to divert his attention and pass the time.

But the more he watched, the more he found himself surrounded by a sense of panic, unable to concentrate at all.

Ryan also got some red wine and liqueur from the hotel restaurant, hoping to get himself drunk to numb himself.

But after waking up, he not only felt a splitting headache, but the feeling of panic became even worse.

Ryan had no choice but to start exercising desperately again to consume his physical strength, and then fell asleep due to exhaustion.

The result did not change, he was still surrounded by panic.

By the 56th day, Ryan lay on a bed in the hotel, his eyes bloodshot and his face haggard.

He stared at the ceiling, and an indescribable loneliness and pain continued to emerge.

"Ah!"

Ryan roared, trying to vent the panic and pain in his heart.

But soon, he found it all in vain and shouting had no effect.

At this point, Ryan hadn't slept for three days and three nights. It wasn't that he didn't want to sleep, but no matter how tired his body was or how much he drank, he couldn't fall asleep.

Ryan Miller felt a sense of emptiness spreading throughout his body, almost driving him to the brink of insanity.

He knew that he had to find a solution to this problem. Otherwise, not only would he not be able to last until the 90 days, but he would likely collapse before the water reached the Aurea Hotel.
