Third Person POV
The announcement of the next battle vibrated through the air, sending a fresh wave of excitement through the remaining students in the observation room. Minato Namikaze and Momo Yaoyorozu as the Villains, defending the hidden bomb, against Denki Kaminari and Kyoka Jiro as the Heroes, tasked with securing it. A strategic matchup, promising a clash of diverse Quirks that had everyone on the edge of their seats.
Minato and Momo descended into Battle Center B, a sprawling replica of a multi-story urban building, its interior a dizzying maze of corridors and empty rooms. \
"Alright, Yaoyorozu-san," Minato began, his voice calm and deliberate as they reached their designated floor. He placed a hand on the cool metal of the bomb, a silent acknowledgment of their shared objective. "Our opponents are Kaminari, whose Quirk is Electrification, and Jiro, with Earphone Jack, which allows her to pick up sounds and create vibrations."
Momo nodded, her intelligent eyes already processing the information, her mind undoubtedly racing through countless strategic possibilities. Her hero costume, a sleek, dark red leotard with strategically placed openings to allow for her Creation Quirk, was both practical and elegantly designed. "Jiro's Quirk will be problematic. She can pinpoint our location through sound, even through walls. That's a significant sensory advantage for them."
"Precisely," Minato confirmed, a faint, knowing smile playing on his lips. "So, our first move should be to disrupt her ability to do that. Can you create small, powerful speakers? We need to place them strategically around the building to create constant, random noise. Not loud enough to be obvious to the casual ear, but enough to create a 'fog' of sound, making it impossible for her to get a clear read on our exact location."
Momo's eyes lit up with understanding, a flash of pure genius reflected in their depths. "An excellent idea, Minato-kun! A sonic smokescreen, in essence! Yes, I can produce high-frequency, low-wattage speakers that emit a constant, subtle white noise. It will take a few minutes, but it's well within my capabilities." Her bare arm glowed faintly, almost imperceptibly, as she began to produce the compact, intricate devices, their forms taking shape from her exposed skin with remarkable speed and precision.
While Momo worked, creating the series of small, unobtrusive speakers, Minato surveyed the fifth floor, his mind already three steps ahead. He mentally mapped the entire layout of the building, identifying choke points, potential ambush locations, and escape routes. As soon as Momo had a handful ready, he began to place the speakers, adhering them to walls, ceilings, and even inside ventilation shafts in various rooms. He ensured a widespread, subtly disorienting blanket of sound that would confound Jiro's sensory abilities.
"Next," Minato continued as he returned, watching Momo put the finishing touches on the last speaker, "Kaminari's electricity. We need to mitigate that threat, especially since we're confined within a building. Can you create thin, insulating sheets? Something to cover the floor in key areas, particularly around the bomb's location."
"Of course!" Momo replied, already conceptualizing the material, her mind seamlessly transitioning from one complex creation to the next. "I can produce a highly insulative, non-conductive polymer. It will be thin but remarkably effective." In moments, she began to extrude large, translucent sheets from her back, unrolling them and quickly covering the floor around the bomb and extending them into the main corridor, creating a safe zone.
Minato observed her work, genuinely impressed by her speed, efficiency, and the quality of her creations. "You don't need to cover the entire floor for my sake, Yaoyorozu-san," he added, a hint of amusement in his tone. "My Quirk offers enough defense against electrical attacks."
Momo paused, looking at him with a slight tilt of her head. "Ah, yes, your Quirk's enhancement capabilities. I noted that during the apprehension test. It seems quite versatile, providing both offense and defense against a variety of attacks." She nodded in understanding, continuing to lay the sheets strategically. "Even so, it helps funnel Kaminari's attacks, making his movements more predictable. And it provides a crucial layer of safety for me, should I be distracted."
With the preparations complete, they settled into an ambush position near the bomb, waiting patiently. The low, almost imperceptible hum from the newly placed speakers filled the air, a subtle but effective disruption. The silence, normally so profound in an empty building, was now replaced by a soft, unidentifiable whisper.
Minato closed his eyes for a moment, extending his sensory perception. He could feel Kaminari and Jiro approaching, their movements becoming clearer as they ascended the floors. They were being thorough, systematically clearing each level, which, ironically, played directly into Minato and Momo's calculated hands.
"They're on the third floor," Minato stated quietly, opening his eyes. His gaze was sharp, focused. "Moving quickly. They'll be here soon."
Momo tensed, her posture shifting from analytical to ready. Her staff was already materializing, its solid form a testament to her preparedness. "What's our direct engagement strategy, Minato-kun?"
"Simple," Minato replied, a confident glint in his eyes. "We'll let them come to us. Draw them into our prepared zone. Once they're inside this room, Momo, you focus on Jiro. Her Earphone Jacks are her main offensive and sensory tool. Pin her down, prevent her from using sound attacks. I will engage Kaminari. He'll likely try to overwhelm us with raw power."
"Understood," Momo affirmed, her gaze resolute, a fierce determination in her eyes. "My staff and shield can be created to counter Jiro's vibrations, and I can create material to bind her. I'll ensure she can't contribute to the fight."
Minutes later, the soft sounds of approaching footsteps grew louder, distinct even amidst the subtle sonic fog they had created. A brief moment of silence, a pregnant pause, a hint of hesitation, and then the door to the bomb room slowly creaked open. Kaminari and Jiro entered, their eyes scanning the dimly lit space, their forms silhouetted against the slightly brighter hallway. Jiro immediately brought her earphone jacks to the floor, trying to pinpoint their location, but the subtle white noise prevented her from getting a clear read, making her frustrated.
"Something's off," Jiro murmured, her brow furrowed in confusion, her earphone jacks twitching uselessly. "I can't get a clear sonic image. It's like... white noise, everywhere."
Kaminari, already on edge from the weird silence, saw the gleaming bomb. He didn't waste time trying to understand. "Take this!" he shouted, thrusting his hands forward, a surge of raw electricity arcing towards Minato and Momo, crackling ominously.
However, the moment his electricity touched the ground, it was harmlessly absorbed by the insulating sheets Momo had laid down. The current dissipated, unable to travel and shock them, fizzling out with a disappointing hiss. Kaminari's eyes widened in surprise and utter frustration, his attack rendered useless.
"My electricity... it's not working!" he exclaimed, looking at the floor with disbelief, as if it had personally betrayed him.
Jiro, quickly realizing the environmental countermeasure, her frustration morphing into strategic recognition, quickly assessed the situation. "They anticipated us! Kaminari, our long-range is nullified! We need to engage close-quarters!"
Seeing their main offensive negated, both Kaminari and Jiro roared and charged forward, abandoning caution for direct confrontation. Kaminari, with a surprising amount of raw, unrefined physical prowess, threw a wild, aggressive punch towards Minato, while Jiro aimed a swift kick at Momo, ready to follow up with a sonic blast if the opportunity arose.
Minato met Kaminari's charge with an almost dismissive ease, a faint smile playing on his lips. Kaminari's punches and kicks were fast, surprisingly well-trained for someone who primarily relied on a Quirk. It was clear he had put in some gym work, probably to compensate for the close-quarters limitations of his electrification. But to Minato, a master of Taijutsu from the template he got, in the ninja world, hand-to-hand combat was an art form refined over centuries. Kaminari's movements were utterly elementary, almost childlike in their predictability.
Minato danced around Kaminari's attacks, a graceful blur of motion. He didn't even need to activate his Lightning Release Chakra Mode for this; his base speed and reflexes were more than sufficient. He simply swayed, stepped, and pivoted, making Kaminari's aggressive strikes pass harmlessly through the air. Kaminari grunted in frustration, his attacks growing wilder, more desperate, as he continuously missed. He tried to electrify his fists, but Minato was too fast, never allowing contact, simply redirecting Kaminari's momentum with minimal effort.
Minato observed Kaminari's growing desperation, finding it almost amusing. This was a battle, yes, but for him, it felt more like a controlled spar with a novice. After dodging a particularly wide, telegraphed swing, Minato saw his opening. With a fluid, almost casual movement, he stepped inside Kaminari's guard, a quick, precise karate chop delivered cleanly to the side of Kaminari's neck. The blow was perfectly aimed, enough to disrupt his nervous system without causing any lasting harm. Kaminari's eyes rolled back, and he crumpled to the ground, unconscious before he even fully registered the impact, a comical little spark flickering from his hair.
The entire engagement lasted mere seconds. Minato turned, his gaze immediately going to Momo and Jiro. They were still locked in a fierce, dynamic struggle, a captivating display of strategic wit versus raw agility.
Momo, utilizing her Creation Quirk with incredible versatility, was deftly countering Jiro's every move. Jiro, using her Earphone Jacks, sent focused sonic vibrations through the floor and walls, trying to disorient Momo or create openings, but Momo was a step ahead. She rapidly created shock-absorbing shields, dense foam barriers, or even small, compact trebuchets that launched blunt projectiles to force Jiro to dodge, disrupting her rhythm.
Jiro was agile, her combat style reminiscent of a nimble close-quarters fighter, using her cables like whips and probes, trying to get close to Momo, aiming for pressure points or to use her Quirk for a direct sonic blast. However, Momo's strategic mind was a formidable opponent. She wasn't just creating; she was anticipating. She created a sturdy, metal staff to deflect Jiro's earphone jacks and kept a constant stream of defensive and offensive items materializing, always maintaining a tactical distance and control of the battlefield.
The battle between them was less about brute force and more about tactical ingenuity and quick thinking. Momo was, subtly but definitively, the superior combatant, her ability to instantly manifest precise counters giving her a continuous advantage. After a grueling five minutes of constant creation and evasion, Momo saw her chance. Jiro, having just used a powerful Heartbeat Wall attack that left her momentarily drained and slightly off-balance, left herself vulnerable. Momo quickly created a set of flexible, durable cuffs from her arm and, with a swift, practiced movement, flung them towards Jiro. The cuffs snapped shut around Jiro's Earphone Jacks, effectively disabling her Quirk. Before Jiro could react, Momo materialized a thick, sturdy rope and quickly bound her, securing the capture.
"Villain Team Wins!" All Might's booming voice echoed through the building, signaling the end of the match.
Minato walked over to the bound Jiro and the unconscious Kaminari. He knelt beside Kaminari, placing a single, focused finger on his neck. A tiny, almost imperceptible surge of chakra-infused electricity, carefully controlled, flowed into Kaminari's system. Kaminari's body jolted, his eyes fluttering open. He blinked, groaning slightly, then looked up at Minato with a bewildered expression, memories of being utterly outmaneuvered slowly returning.
"Wh-what happened?" Kaminari mumbled, rubbing his neck, looking confused.
"You took a quick nap," Minato replied simply, offering a small, reassuring smile. "Good fight, Kaminari-kun. You've got some good moves."
Soon, All Might entered the building, his broad smile radiating approval. He surveyed the scene – the bound Jiro, the dazed but recovering Kaminari, and the victorious Minato and Momo standing calmly by the bomb.
"Excellent work, young heroes!" All Might boomed, his voice full of genuine pride. "That was a truly well-executed strategy, Team A! Yaoyorozu, your proactive countermeasures against Jiro's Quirk and Kaminari's electricity were superb! Your analytical skills and rapid creation are truly exemplary!" He then turned to Minato. "And Minato, your speed and precision, as well as your tactical thinking and efficient neutralization of the threat, were simply astounding!"
He quickly helped unbind Jiro and Kaminari. Jiro rubbed her wrists, looking a little chagrined by the defeat but also impressed by Momo's strategy. Kaminari, fully awake now, just stared at Minato with a new sense of awe and a hint of terror, already formulating new questions about how to improve his own Quirk.
They all made their way back to the observation room, where the rest of Class 1-A awaited, buzzing with anticipation. As the replay of their battle was shown on the large screen, All Might facilitated a discussion, asking the students to analyze the strategies, the strengths, and weaknesses displayed by both teams.
"Yaoyorozu's foresight in creating those insulating sheets and sonic dampeners was absolutely key," All Might praised, pointing at the screen. "Always think about how to counter your opponent's Quirk before the fight even begins!"
"And Minato-kun's ability to neutralize Kaminari so quickly and efficiently was astounding," Iida added, chopping his hand with fervent precision. "His speed and precision are truly top-tier, and his tactical awareness is remarkable!"
The class discussed the battle, learning from the tactical decisions made by both sides. Minato and Momo humbly accepted the praise, offering their own insights into their thought process and strategic planning, further solidifying their positions as the top two students in the class.
As the day progressed, the remaining battles unfolded largely as they did in the canon events. Todoroki's overwhelming ice power, Bakugo's explosive rage, Iida's earnest but sometimes misguided dedication, and the burgeoning skills of the other students – all providing new lessons and insights into the diverse Quirks and personalities of Class 1-A. Each match was a microcosm of heroism, strategy, and self-discovery. The day was long, intense, and a powerful, unforgettable introduction to the demanding yet exhilarating world of U.A.'s Hero Course.
The final bell shrilled, its sound slicing through the air like a siren, signaling the end of the second day at U.A. High. A collective sigh of relief, mingled with lingering excitement, swept through Classroom 1-A. Students, exhausted but exhilarated from the Battle Trials, began to pack their bags, their minds still replaying the day's events.
Minato gathered his belongings, a sense of quiet satisfaction settling over him. The interactions with Kaminari and Toru had been particularly interesting.
As the classroom slowly emptied, and students chattered their way towards the door, a booming voice cut through the remaining noise.
"Young Namikaze!"
Minato paused, turning towards the front of the room. All Might, still in his muscular form, stood by the podium, his iconic grin unwavering. His gaze, however, held a peculiar intensity as it fixed solely on Minato.
"Yes, All Might-sensei?" Minato replied, his voice calm and polite.
"Could you, uh... meet me after school?" All Might asked, his voice dropping slightly, though still resonating with power. "There's something I'd like to discuss with you... personally."
A flicker of curiosity sparked within Minato. He knew this was bound to happen when he destroyed the Zero Pointer robot with the same technique as when he helped All Might using the Tobirama Senju transformation.
"Of course, All Might-sensei," Minato agreed without hesitation, a small, knowing smile touching his lips. "I'll be there."
All Might's grin seemed to widen, if that were possible. "Excellent! Meet me at my office on the third floor. Don't be late!"
With a final, enthusiastic thumbs-up, All Might exited the classroom.
