Chapter 54 - Chapter 54: Puppeteer!

"Damn, when did zombie babies become mass-produced?" Upon hearing the continuous baby cries from behind him, Chuxun's hairs stood on end, and his face darkened immediately.

No matter how he tried to convince himself, he could hardly believe that so many zombie babies—creatures that barely appeared in rumors—were here!

This couldn't be a coincidence. Was this all man-made?

Then who, or what faction, had the capability to produce so many zombie babies all at once?

Thoughts raced through his mind, and his expression became increasingly grim. But he knew this wasn't the time for idle speculation, so he quickly reacted and increased his speed, rushing forward.

In this situation, standing and fighting would only get him killed!

*Crash!*

Just as Chuxun started moving, the sound of glass shattering violently echoed behind him. The baby cries grew louder and more frantic.

"Dammit!" Hearing the noise behind him, Chuxun quickened his pace.

Clearly, those zombie babies had broken out of the nursery, and if he didn't move faster, he would likely be torn to pieces by these terrifying little creatures.

*Waa! Waa! Waa!*

As expected, nearly a dozen shadowy figures burst out from the shattered window of the nursery, speeding up and chasing after Chuxun like lightning.

"Hahaha, interesting, really interesting!" In the central control room, the mysterious figure watched the scene unfold through the surveillance feed. For some reason, he seemed to find the sight of Chuxun being chased by zombie babies highly amusing, laughing in a manic, almost obsessive manner.

"You seem to be having a good time!" At that moment, a slightly mocking voice suddenly came from behind the mysterious figure.

"I thought you'd try to ambush me!" Unexpectedly, the mysterious figure didn't seem startled by the voice behind him. Instead, he continued laughing without turning around, saying, "What a perfect opportunity. Why don't you take advantage of it, Puppet Master?"

"Heh, we both understand each other, don't bother showing off your puppetry skills. You'll just embarrass yourself," replied a slightly slender figure, emerging from the shadows of the room.

It was a man who appeared to be under thirty, with a fair complexion and wearing gold-rimmed glasses. He looked like a typical teacher.

However, if Chuxun were to see this man, he would be greatly shocked. This person was none other than *Fury of Law* Chu Feng, the very same person who had once contended with Chuxun's teacher, the *Madman of War*, for control of their Battle Strategy Hall!

"Hehehe, Fury of Law is really deserving of his title. The *Encyclopedia of the Superpowered World* moniker is no joke," the mysterious figure laughed eerily, his head suddenly twisting 180 degrees in an unnatural movement, as if his neck was a puppet's joint.

At last, the figure revealed its true face. To Chuxun's horror, it wasn't a human face at all. Instead, it was a grotesque, doll-like visage—pale skin, blood-red eyes, a gaping mouth, and strange red spiraling patterns that made it look even more terrifying.

"Allow me to introduce myself. I am the *Sloth* from the Seven Deadly Sins," the puppet-like figure stared at Chu Feng with its blood-red eyes. Then, its unnervingly large mouth opened and closed as it spoke, "Actually, I'm not really lazy; I just got stuck with this title when it was my turn. So, I have to make do with it. Apologies for the inconvenience, hehe…"

The bizarre face paired with the eerie laughter made the atmosphere of the room even more unnerving. However, Chu Feng seemed unaffected. He coldly stared at the puppet-like figure, speaking slowly and seriously: "First it's *Anger*, then it's *Sloth*. Who would have thought that a small-scale dead city like this would attract two of the Sins…"

As Chu Feng spoke, a cold glint flashed behind his glasses. He then demanded, "Tell me—what are you here for?"

"Q&A game? Sounds fun! Let's do that. How about this: we each ask a question, and take turns answering," the puppet-like figure didn't seem to take Chu Feng seriously, laughing again in that creepy way. "To show my sincerity, I'll answer first. We're here to find something. But we haven't found it yet."

Pausing for a moment, the puppet-like figure added, "Okay, your turn. How did you find your way here?"

"I've been working with a laborious partner for many years, and we have a special way of contacting each other. Whenever he runs into trouble, he immediately notifies me," Chu Feng furrowed his brows, contemplating. "But he sent me here only to protect his disciple. As for you… you were just an accidental discovery."

"Alright, now it's my turn!" After answering the question, Chu Feng quickly asked, "What are you looking for?"

Given that the opponent was obviously an expert in puppetry, and that the puppet before him was just a puppet, even if Chu Feng destroyed it, it would serve no purpose. So, Chu Feng had no choice but to stall for time, both to gather more information and to locate the *Sloth*'s true form.

"Yes, a back-and-forth Q&A is much more interesting," the puppet-like figure laughed again and answered without hesitation, "We're here for a blood sample. It's said that the sample was last in the possession of the leader of this gathering place, but now it seems like that was just a rumor. We've been looking for it for three years, but found nothing."

"Three years!" Hearing this, Chu Feng's expression darkened.

He couldn't believe it—his enemies had been hiding right under their noses for three years. What's more, the blood sample they were searching for had to be from someone extraordinary, for the Seven Deadly Sins to devote so much effort to find it.

"Who does this blood sample belong to?" Chu Feng took a deep breath and asked the crucial question.

"Sorry, I can't tell you that," the puppet-like figure shifted slightly, turning 180 degrees with a horrible screech. Finally, it was directly facing Chu Feng. "This is a real secret, and if I tell you, I'll be in big trouble!"

"Heh, once I catch you, there won't be any secrets left!" Hearing this, a gleam of determination flashed in Chu Feng's eyes. He suddenly slashed his hand through the air, shouting coldly, "Spatial Cage—Imprison!"

With that, the space around the puppet-like figure was torn open, revealing several visible cracks in the fabric of space. These cracks then combined into a massive cage, trapping the puppet completely.

The *Spatial Cage* was an advanced ability in the space category, capable of ripping apart the space around a target and using those rifts to imprison them. Anyone who tried to escape would be shredded by the violent rifts.

"Tsk tsk tsk, a truly rare spatial ability user!" The puppet-like figure did not appear alarmed. Instead, it nodded lightly, then suddenly laughed. "But since you know I'm a puppeteer, how could you think this little trick would hold me?"

Shaking its head and sighing, the puppet said, "Forget it. Since we haven't found the thing, I'm not going to waste any more time. These pointless fights aren't worth it. Fury of Law, we'll meet again next time!"

With that, the puppet-like figure voluntarily walked toward the space rift. Then, with a series of snapping sounds, it was completely torn apart by the rift, leaving behind only a small remnant.

"Heh, you think you can escape?" Watching the puppet dissolve into dust, Chu Feng didn't show any sign of disappointment. Instead, he chuckled and quickly swiped his hand again, murmuring, "Source Trace, Spatial Gate!"

*Voom!*

As Chu Feng spoke, the space in front of him was torn open into a black void. He stepped forward, walking into the dark hole.

But just before the hole closed, Chu Feng's somewhat puzzled voice echoed from within: "Strange… why do I feel like I'm forgetting something? Is my memory getting worse? Nah, probably just overthinking…"

As his voice trailed off, the black hole suddenly closed, leaving the room in complete silence.

At that moment, a "forgotten" unfortunate soul was desperately fleeing, being chased by a dozen or so zombie babies…

"God damn, I'm not your mother! Why the hell are you little brats chasing me like this?" Feeling the terrifying wind of pursuit closing in behind him, Chuxun's mood was rapidly sinking.

At this rate, he wouldn't be able to outrun them for long!

"I have to find a place to hide!" Sprinting forward, Chuxun quickly recalled the hospital's building layout in his mind. But no matter how hard he thought, he couldn't find a place that would stop the zombie babies.

These little creatures were incredibly strong, with sharp teeth and claws. Ordinary doors wouldn't be able to stop them. To block them, he'd need to find somewhere with a really sturdy door.

"Got it!" Suddenly, Chuxun's eyes lit up as if he had thought of something. He quickly turned and accelerated in a new direction.

He had figured out how to deal with the zombie babies!
