15 Miles: The Heist

Episode 12: Shadows in the Storm
---
The rooftop was a battleground under the cold light of the moon. Gunfire echoed endlessly, bullets singing death's song as D7 scrambled for cover. Julian's heart pounded — every second stretched like an eternity.
Reese had disappeared into the smoke, leaving behind only his desperate promise to return. Carter crouched beside Julian, reloading with practiced efficiency. "We're pinned down. No clear exit."
Eve's voice crackled through the comms, tense but steady. "Civilian secured. But the streets below are crawling with Ghost Net. No way out without a fight."
Julian swallowed the lump in his throat and glanced at the Nexus core — the small device humming softly in his palm. The weight of it was crushing. "This isn't just data. It's the key to everything — corruption, lies, murder. If this gets out, it'll tear the world apart."
Carter nodded grimly. "That's why Lucian won't stop. And why they'll kill anyone who stands in their way."
Suddenly, the rooftop's edge erupted in flame as an explosive landed nearby. Julian was thrown backward, pain flaring in his side. Dust choked the air.
Through the haze, a figure emerged — masked, silent, deadly. Ghost Net's elite assassin. Eyes locked on the Nexus core.
Julian struggled to his feet, clutching the device. "Not today."
The assassin advanced, a blade gleaming. Julian ducked, rolling toward Eve as she fired a burst from her rifle.
The assassin vanished into the smoke, leaving behind a cold whisper. "You can't hide from your past."
Julian's mind flashed to memories buried deep — betrayals, losses, the faces of those he once called family.
"Hold on," Eve urged. "We have to move."
But Julian's gaze was fixed on the shadows, where the assassin had disappeared. The war was no longer just about the heist — it was personal.
And the storm was only just beginning.
