Chapter 21 - Chapter 22 She smiled

She scanned the room to make sure that it was safe. That's what she had learnt from Kenny that whenever one visits a hotel room, you should check everywhere to make sure you are safe before settling down.

Inside the bathroom, she saw a big white bathtub, and the room was to her liking. Two white towels were neatly hanged in the bathroom with bottles of shower gels.

Why did everything in country C seem so nice?

She was glad not to know that everything was prepared beforehand by someone. Was fate playing fair with her? What had she done to deserve all those good things? She was grateful that she didn't get to suffer on her first day abroad as other people do.

She took off her clothes and immersed herself in the bathtub. She smiled. This was a new beginning for her. She had planned to find a starter job for herself so that she could earn some money. She wanted to move out of the hotel room after stabilizing herself, rent a small apartment and enjoy life..

After an almost two-hour bath, she wrapped a towel around her body and went to the bedroom. She felt an itch on her arms, then on her legs, and all of a sudden, her body started itching all over. She started scratching her body, not knowing what was happening. Natasha thought that maybe her body was reacting to the water she had just used for bathing. The itching was so intense that she decided to call the hotel service number, but before she could do so, the itching stopped.

Still confused by what had just happened, she put on her bathrobe to sleep. She had eaten some snacks she had on the plane.

Natasha lay down with hopes of a better tomorrow. Even though she had decided to forget everything about Kenny, she still couldn't rub his face out of her mind.

Anyway, it was normal since one couldn't just forget someone they were once married to that easily.

Kenny was a person who was once her boyfriend and husband, a person she shared a house and bed too. It would take a while to completely break the bond between the two.

Natasha had traveled a long distance and was feeling utterly exhausted even after taking a shower. She was hoping for a peaceful night's sleep. She closed her eyes, but her tiredness and new environment did not allow her to immediately fall asleep. Instead, she found herself tossing and turning, unable to find a comfortable position or quiet her thoughts.

Her mind wandered, considering the possible reasons behind her restlessness. Could it be the unfamiliarity of her surroundings? Natasha was in a foreign country, and the hotel room, although cozy, felt strange and different. The softness of the pillows and the warmth of the blankets did not bring her the familiar comfort she wanted. Seconds turned into minutes and minutes into hours, but she couldn't fall asleep.

Natasha's discomfort grew. She realized she needed to drink some water, hoping it would help ease her restlessness. Climbing out of bed, she made her way to the small table near the window, where a glass of cool water sat. She took a long sip, allowing the cold sensation to trickle down her throat, getting off her discomfort. She hoped that maybe after drinking the water, she would be able to get some sleep.

Returning to her bed, Natasha couldn't shake off a bad feeling that began to envelop her. It was as if something wasn't just right.

The feeling made her heart skip a beat as a wave of unease washed over her, and she couldn't help but sense that something bad was about to happen or had happened. Yet, she didn't know the source of this unease.

She couldn't understand what all this was about. Why was she feeling like that? Was it because she left her home country?

Could it be that someone might break into her room tonight? She had ensured her safety was top-notch. Natasha rose from the bed once again and walked slowly towards the door. She reached for the doorknob, turning it with caution to ensure it was securely closed.

Satisfied that she was safe within her room, she let out a deep sigh, relieving the tension that had stuck in her heart.

Natasha wondered if she had become a coward after being with a man who protected her for a long time.

Returning to her bed, Natasha slid her body beneath the covers.

Time seemed to stand still as she stared into the darkness, desperately longing for sleep. It was getting more and more Kate, but her eyes were still awake without a bit of sleep

Everything seemed weird because, all her life, she had never found it hard to sleep when she was in a new place. Throughout, her body was alert, as if she were waiting for someone to attack her and ready to defend herself. She hadn't been so anxious for a very long while, and the feeling was not good at all.

Natasha checked the time on her phone screen; it was already two o'clock in the morning.

She really yearned for sleep, so she closed her eyes, not thinking about anything else, and her eyes grew heavy and slowly, her breathing slowed, and her body relaxed, and she fell into a deep sleep.

The worries and anxieties that Natasha had throughout the night gradually melted away as she fell deeper into her sleep.
