Hildr was able to make it just in time. She registered her arrival and was led to the assembly hall. She had been forced to leave her servants and guards outside. She had already been expecting something like this and so when it happened, she did not show any change in expression. The man in charge of registering the new students was impressed by her calm demeanor. Many young master would make a fuss once they were informed that they had to give up their guards but not the Draugr Princess.
When she reached the hall, hundreds of students were already seated. They all wore the uniform of the Argonaut Academy. The uniform had green, red, and grey but it still managed to look impressive, giving the students an aura of sophistication and nobility. The moment Hildr entered the hall through the large mahogany doors, all eyes were on her.
The assembly had yet to begin but all the students had already arrived. It seemed that Hildr was the last one to arrive. Hildr was used to being the center of attention. She walked through the center of the hall with her head held high. In her mind, all the students who were looking at her were naturally below her in all aspects. This could be called arrogance but she called it confidence. In the large hall, the only sound was that from her black shoes. Even though the academy policies limited her options, she had still worn the most stylish shoes possible. She was a beauty and confidence that could capture the heart of any man, let alone the boys in the hall.
At the front of the hall, there were a few people seated on the stage. These were the professors of the academy. They were also looking at her as though she was something to be feared and understood. In the world of the Otherkind, only fools did not know who she was. These professors were of course very clear on who and what she was. Some of them had even published books about her. In their eyes, her appearance here was the same as a figure of legend walking out of the pages of history. They could not even understand how and why such a figure had ended up as their student.
Hildr walked until she reached the front row seats. There, there was still an empty seat that was located in the best position. She did not even ask any questions before she moved to sit down in this chair. When she saw the person seated in the chair next to it, Hildr stopped for a second. This was because the person in this chair was the young woman she had failed to kill. The woman who had been entrusted with the Crown of the Endless. This young woman was of course Amelia.
After being fished out of the lake, she had been interrogated. She had expected the hammer of justice to fall on the Draugr but after a few days, she had been ordered by the imperial government to shut up about everything she knew. She was made to swear a bunch of oaths on the names of ancient gods. When they explained to her the consequences of breaking these oaths and speaking about the matter to anyone, she understood that the government wanted to cover up the incident. She could not understand why this was so but she knew that she could not go against these people. Even though she was new to the world of the Otherkind, she had been informed about the Imperial Government and the Premier. The little information she had about these people was enough for her to understand that there was nothing she could do.
A few days later, she was released from custody. She had thought that she was about to become homeless and return to the homelessness of her past but this feeling only lasted a few minutes before a middle-aged man in a suit designed in a manner she had never seen in the human world approached her. This man turned out to be a lawyer. "Even supernatural creatures need lawyers," this was what she thought about as the man explained his business with her.
The man seemed to know what she was thinking and he smiled at her. From the moment they had met, the man had been trying to make a good impression on her. When he was done explaining, she understood why he had been so cordial. It turned out that the old principal, the Sun Born Saint, had left all his wealth to her. She did not even know when he had done this and why he had done so. The two had known each other for less than a month and yet he had left her all his property.
The lawyer gave her the old man's will and as she read through the document, she was left stunned. This was because the old man had left her enough wealth for her to live like a king. What he had left her was all the wealth of the now destroyed Lemuria Academy and his personal wealth that he had accumulated in the thousands of years he had lived. He left her businesses that were spread all over Lemuria and some even set up in the human world. If she were to return to the human world, she would be among the top one hundred richest people in the world.
The old man's only request was that she use the wealth and all the resources he was leaving to her to protect the Crown of the Endless. The old man did not even make this as a demand but a request. She could choose to ignore it if she felt like it. Just like that, Amelia became a very wealthy woman. The lawyer led her to the mansion that the principal had owned in the capital. It was a magnificent structure that Amelia had only ever seen in magazines.
After signing a few documents, the lawyer was able to convince her to keep him on so that he could manage her affairs, same as he had done for the Sun Born Saint. Amelia had decided to honour the old man's request to protect the Crown of the Endless. She had decided to join the academy so that she could understand the ways of the Otherkind better. She had not expected to meet her most hated foe in the new academy she had decided to join.
