Hildr saw the girl she had been thinking about for the past few days and she frowned slightly. She quickly hid her feelings on the matter and sat down as though she did not know anything about Amelia. On the other hand, Amelia had a harder time trying to control herself. The woman seated next to her had killed her friend, Corina, and devastated the only home she had ever had. She had killed the principal, the only person who had ever cared about her. The more Amelia thought about everything that Hildr had done, the more her anger rose. She grabbed the arms of the chair and squeezed with everything she had. If this was a normal chair, it would have already been torn apart by her power. Fortunately, everything in Argonaut Academy was protected by powerful soul.
Hildr did not care that the woman next to her wanted to kill her. She just looked at the professors seated at the front and waited for the ceremony to begin. Amelia wanted to attack but apart from the fact that she was not Hildr's match, she also had to think about the harsh rules of this academy. Fighting outside designated areas was met with harsh punishments, including expulsion. For now, Amelia had to stay at this academy. She could not afford the consequences of being expelled.
When Amelia finally calmed down and sat back in her chair, Hildr smiled slightly. Amelia saw this smile and so did a few people who had been focused on what was happening with the Cursed Princess. There were a few other people that recognized Hildr as the person that had attacked the academy. These were the survivors who had made it into the academy with the Premier's help. To get them to make oaths not to spread what they knew, getting them into this academy was one of the bribes the Premier had used.
Adrian was seated in the second row and he had seen Hildr the moment she entered the hall. He was in a similar state to Amelia. When he saw Amelia calm down, so did Adrian. The two had gotten much closer after the hell they had gone through. Adrian would have loved to sit next to Hildr but he was forced to sit in the second row because the seats had been assigned according to the students' performance on the entrance examination. When Hildr sat in the first seat and no one came out to stop her, it became clear that she had been the best performer on the examinations. She was then followed by Amelia.
When Hildr received a reply from the academy, informing her about her acceptance, she had not bothered reading through anything else apart from the school rules and regulations. She had not even checked her performance on the harsh examination. The fact that Hildr had sat in the first seat without even wondering about her performance showed the confidence she had in herself. From the rules and regulations, she knew about the seating arrangement but she was sure of her place. She was always sure that she was the best in whatever she did.
At this moment, the academy principal appeared on the stage. A powerful yet contained tornado appeared on the stage and when the tornado disappeared, the principal stood on the stage. This was her second step and from the tornado, the element that allowed her to use second step was wind. The principal was a middle-aged woman who wore large round glasses and a bright green dress. She was not the most beautiful woman but she had a charisma that easily grabbed everyone's attention.
The moment this woman appeared on the stage, all murmuring came to a stop. No one dared make a sound. This woman was known by Otherkind, both living and dead. She came from a family whose lineage stretched back to the great titans that were said to have created the world itself.
"I am Flavia Audax, I will be your principal from this day on," she said while her eyes roamed all over the place. Everyone felt as though they were the ones being watched by this woman. Her blue eyes were sharp and piercing. Whomever she looked at felt as though only they and the principal were left in the world.
"Some of you are from noble families. You are princesses, princes, and some of you are already kings with domains to rule. You have powerful bloodlines, wealth, vast amounts of spells, and countless people under your command. You are used to ruling above millions and being below none." When she said the last part, she looked at Hildr.
"I am here to inform you that from this day until the day you graduate from this academy, you are all below me. Your lives are in my hands and with a single word, I can allow you to get a glimpse of death." The principal spoke as though she was the warden of a prison that held notorious criminals.
The professors were not surprised by the principal's behavior but the students were left with wide eyes. "Are these the words of a respectable principal?" many of them were left wondering.
The more she heard, the more Amelia grew to like this principal. This was because at first glance, her beliefs seemed to align with those of the principal. Since Amelia was from the human world, she believed in things like democracy, power to the people, and things like no one should be above the law, not even the so-called kings. Basically, she believed that monarchy was a sin that should not be allowed in a modernized world.
On the other hand, Hildr frowned a little since it seemed that the principal already did not like her and yet she had to be in this academy for the next seven years. "I have to fix this," she thought.
The academy would be going through a bunch of competitions to select students to participate in the Soul Tournament that would take place in seven years. The principal had the final say in these matters and if she did not like anyone, she could just decide not to allow them to participate. Hildr was not about to allow this woman to stand in her way.
