One of the girls let out a shrill scream of horror a few seconds later as they watched as the big wolf hovered over Meredith, who was still completely stricken with fear to react. Meredith couldn't move a single muscle. All she could do was stare into the bright golden eyes of the beast who was about to eat her. She wanted to scream at the top of her lungs for someone to help her, but at the same time, she knew that if she did that, she would only make the beast eat her faster. She held her breath as she waited and waited. She could hear the girls scream in the background, but she couldn't dare look until she could no longer hear their screams anymore.
She could hear as the girls spoke in fear among themselves. She could hear as the girls ran for their lives, leaving her behind when they were able to free the ropes that bound them. She couldn't blame them. She would have done the same thing. How could anyone fight such a beast? As time went on, Meredith was convinced that the beast was planning if he should start with her head first. The way it hovered over her was bone-chilling. She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. Tears escaped the corner of her eyes, and when the beast sighted it, it growled, causing Meredith to almost combust in fright. Was it going to eat her head now!
Her eyes immediately closed as she tried to brace herself for what was going to happen next. She counted the seconds in her head, and when she got to ten, nothing happened. Her eyes fluttered open; she was expecting to see the beast, but instead,d, it was slowly backing away from her. Meredith held her breath as she watched in silence as the big white wolf with bright gold eyes backed away. She could see it more clearly now! It was staring right into her eyes as it did. Was it going to pounce on her? Meredith's eyes slowly started to scan the area. No one was in sight, all the girls were gone. The shapeshifter had been tossed away. The only thing present was the light torches of the men that they had left behind. She couldn't just let it attack her. She had to at least make a run for it. Her eyes slowly trailed from a path that she had sighted back to the beast in front of her. It was oddly calmer now. It wasn't trying to attack her anymore, but she couldn't be sure. Who knew what went on in the mind of a beast. Was now the right time for her to make a run for it. But those plans were foiled when the big white wolf let out an ear-piercing growl that made her cover her ears with her hands. It continued to growl and then abruptly stopped.
Meredith's jaw dropped in shock as she watched the transformation that was happening right in front of her. She knew she had to run; now was the perfect time. But she couldn't move a muscle, she gasped in shock when she no longer saw the big white wolf, instead a man in tattered clothes was on his knees a short distance from her. he was human! No, not human! Was he a werewolf like in movies! At least he wasn't going to eat her anymore. The man's head was hung low like he had passed out on his knees. Meredith slowly started to crawl away so as not to wake him or gain his attention, but she froze when he moved and looked up at her. His eyes! They were still golden. The next words that came from his mouth made Meredith's heart drop completely.
"Mate!" The strange man or werewolf proclaimed and moved closer to her, his golden eyes shining in the dark as he stared at Meredith, who was in complete disbelief.
Meredith's eyes grew wide completely in shock as she crawled further away from him. Did she hear wrong! Did he just call her his mate!. How could this be? How could she be the mate of a beast? She was human. Although she could see supernatural beings, she was different from them. From the little, she knew and had seen drawings or watched in movies. He was definitely a lycan or werewolf. She wasn't exactly sure and didn't want to dwell on whether he was or not. All she wanted to do was get the hell out of here, go home, and hide under her blanket. All she wanted was for all this to be a bad dream. What if he tried to turn her into a beast like him!Ther thought made her head spin.
She tried to drag herself up so she could get the h*ll away before he decided she should be turned into a werewolf, but as she did, her knees were beyond wobbly and gave out. She felt the world spin around her as she fell to the ground...
The exhaustion of everything that had happened throughout the day seemed to reach its peak. Merredith tried to keep her eyes open, but it was hard. she was completely exhausted and drained. She knew it wouldn't be long before she passed out. Fear. exhaustion, disbelief, fear again, confusion, those were the overwhelming emotions attacking her all at once.
Her eyesight was blurry, but as her consciousness quickly slipped away from her, she could see a pair of legs approaching her. Why wouldn't he go away.
as she slipped into the darkness, she hoped in her mind that he wouldn't hurt her, and when she came through again, she would be back home in her bed. all this was just a really bad nightmare that felt way too real. Tomorrow, when she woke up, everything would be completely back to normal.
she was unaware of the whirlwind her life was about to take.
